Q: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how your childhood impacted your musical direction?
A: Growing up, music kept me company. It was a natural talent that nobody could deny me, and as I grew older, and started learning new talents like, writing and producing, it became healing. It was not just my identity, but a way for me to reclaim the power I felt, so many times, I lost in my relationships.
Q: How are you planning on growing your fan base and sharing your music with the world? What message do you have for anyone who is about to discover “Diandra”?
A: I want to write short stories and do short videos, via TikTok and Youtube, on how my love songs speak to avoiding narcissists. My whole life I have had some really toxic relationships that made me feel erased and useless to me, which is why they will all be titled under ¨Daddy Issues.¨ There is so much TALENT and people doing fantastic music, that I feel the only way I can stand out is via my heart, my wisdom, and the honest takes I have on the very pains and past that has blocked from gaining either. In essence, I can sing, but I want people to feel my voice.
Q: Who is the most inspiring artist for you right now? And where do you find inspiration for making music?
A: To be honest, there are so many great artists right now, I am absolutely shook! Doing Diandra Reviews It All, where I interview artists and cover the music that inspires me, I feel so humbled by the amount of people that deserve to be listened to by everyone. That is why I have to work so hard to just focus on me and the feelings music gives me. For me, my inspiration lies on how my heart feels when I make a song because I can only hope everyone loves it.
Q: Can you tell us about the story or message behind the song, “Money And Heart.”?
A: I wrote ¨Money And Heart¨ as a goodbye to my father. It was about our last time seeing each other, and I included a short story to go with it. From sound to lyrics, it is about realizing the mutual disappointment and freedom that comes with understanding you had a horrible dad and they will never do anything to honor or even encourage you honoring yourself. It may sound harsh, but I want to create love songs that speak on the self-love journey that manifests the great people destined to love you and, sometimes, that does not include your parents, but it is NOT your fault.
Q: How would you describe your sound in one word for potential listeners?
A: Love
Q: Did you face any challenges while writing or recording “Money And Heart”?
A: The hardest thing about making music is realizing how much you have to do alone. I love collaborations, but I have found, especially as a woman, that a lot of producers will JUST NOT listen to your desires for your song or even give it back. I had one producer work on 4 tracks with me and I begged him, PLEASE GIVE ME AT LEAST THE STEMS, and I wrote some great songs fro him that he released and I am…… still waiting. It can be really discouraging because, at the ned of the day, you have to learn every skill possible to not have anyone take your dream from you.
Q: What is the message of your music? And what are your goals as an artist?
A: My goal as an artist is to be happy. Of course, I want my music to become my livelihood and source of living, but I also want to feel really good and trusting of my sound as a source of empowerment to myself and, eventually, my growing fanbase.
Q: Who is your dream artist to collaborate with? (dead or alive)
A: Bad Bunny
Q: What is your advice for people interested in pursuing music as a career or for those trying to enter the industry?
A: Fame and money is an understandable goal, but if you make it your main one, it is will burn you OUT! It is hard to keep strength in what you love, when you are always thinking about how and whether others will love it, i.e. to get fame and money. In that sense, you forget purpose. You are doing this because you love it, and it makes you feel like you are LOVE. Let that be your guide and trust others will follow.
Q: If you could go back in time and give a younger you some words of wisdom, what would they be?
A: You are wiser than what you think. Your fears are not yours but of those around you, and if you stay strong by always loving yourself, you will find your people, your path, and your joy.
