Q: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how your childhood impacted your musical direction?
A: I grew up in a religious rural Pennsylvania home. We did not have a TV so we often listened to the radio and records. I would pretend that I was a star using my mom’s vacuum cleaner as a microphone. I grew up listening to Bluegrass, Southern Gospel, and Country Music.
Q: How are you planning on growing your fan base and sharing your music with the world? What message do you have for anyone who is about to discover “Debbie Fisher”
A: I got connected with so many amazing people in the music business. My plan is to keep writing and releasing songs and get them on DSPs. My message is this “If you’re hearing my voice, it’s not too late to have your dreams turn into reality.”
Q: Who is the most inspiring artist for you right now? And where do you find inspiration for making music?
A: Anne Wilson. She took her life experiences and made music to share with the world. I also take my life experiences and my faith in Jesus to write songs. My friends joke that there’s content for songs EVERYWHERE! LOL You just have to notice it.
Q: Can you tell us about the story or message behind the song, “Finding My Way Back Home”
A: This song came about on a day when I was missing the simpler time in my life, aka childhood. If you haven’t noticed the world’s gone a little crazy and so I just wrote out my feelings.
Q: How would you describe your sound in one word for potential listeners?
A: Faith Country. I guess that’s two words!
Q: Did you face any challenges while writing or recording “Finding My Way Back Home”?
A: No challenges writing the song. I did do two recordings of it. The first version is bluegrass and the second version (the one you have) has more of a country vibe to it.
Q: What is the message of your music? And what are your goals as an artist?
A: I want my music to be encouraging and inspiring to my listeners. I want them to feel close to God and know that their story matters too. My goals as an artist is to keep getting better at writing songs and to eventually one day sing on the Grand Ole Opry stage.
Q: Who is your dream artist to collaborate with?
A: Josh Turner. I think we’re close to the same age and I love his music and message.
Q: What is your advice for people interested in pursuing music as a career or for those trying to enter the industry?
A: Do it while you’re young!!! I’m in my 40s and I wish I had pursued this 20 years earlier. Also, be wise as an owl. There are lots of noise and people offering you this and that. Take one step at a time and watch what God can do with your YES.
Q: If you could go back in time and give your younger self some words of wisdom, what would they be?
A: You don’t have to be afraid of what people think of you! That’s the reason I didn’t pursue my music career earlier. God created Debbie Fisher to be Debbie Fisher and He created you to be you. So be YOU!
