Conversation With Chad Brownlee

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how your childhood impacted your musical direction?

A) Music was a big part of my childhood. I started playing piano at 8 and was always singing in school talent shows and musicals. I remember playing a song on the piano at home one day and felt such a deep, emotional surge coming from the melodies. So much so I began to cry. That was the moment I realized the power of music and never looked back.

How are you planning on growing your fan base and sharing your music with the world? What message do you have for anyone who is about to discover “Chad Brownlee”?

A) By continuing to release music and putting on the miles to bring that music to my fans both new and old, whatever town or country that might be. My message…I hope my music brings you joy and inspiration. It’s one of the main reasons why I make it.

Who is the most inspiring artist for you right now? And where do you find inspiration for making music?

A) Been listening to a lot of Patrick Droney lately. Great writing, vocals, guitar playing, and production. Going to see him live in October so I’m sure I will be even more inspired! The motivation to make music is in the intrinsic desire to create art and express myself through lyric and melody. As humans, we all have a fairly similar spectrum of emotions, so if I can reflect on my experiences and relate to others through the power of music, it will bring an uplifting feeling. Even if it is for 3 and half minutes. Creating something that brings positivity into someone’s life gives me great motivation to continue to make music for many years to come.

Can you tell us about the story or message behind the song, “The Country Kind”?

A) “‘The Country Kind’ is a “back to your roots” anthem for all those lovers of nature, the simple life, and good ol’ country music. It’s a sincere tip of the hat to a few of the legends that have paved the way before us, like Patsy Cline, Charlie Pride, WIllie Nelson, and more.

The track is a captivating homage to the charm of old school country music, with a vibrant modern country twist. It captures the essence of a simple, peaceful life in the countryside and the enduring values that define the country way of life.

How would you describe your sound in one word for potential listeners?

A) Uplifting!

What is the message of your music? And what are your goals as an artist?

A) All depends on the song really. But my general focus is to bring positive, uplifting music that people feel good listening to. That’s my goal: to bring joy through musical art for as long as I can.

Who is your dream artist to collaborate with? (dead or alive)

A) Willie Nelson.

What is your advice for people interested in pursuing music as a career or for those trying to enter the industry?

A) Make sure you’re doing it out of the love of making and performing music. If you’re in it for fame or money, I wouldn’t expect it to last very long. It is a labour of love, so make sure you’re pursuing it for the right reasons. Oh, and if you can sleep in a car, van, train, bus, ferry, or plane then you’re off to a great start. ☺

If you could go back in time and give a younger you some words of wisdom, what would they be?

A) What you seek is on the other side of what you fear.
