ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Annie Anna is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist producing a sound that bridges the styles of indie folk, folk rock, and alternative rock. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Hozier, Matt Maeson, and Shakey Graves, Annie Anna’s music mixes gritty, oftentimes dark folk rock undertones with her dulcet, yet edgy and strong vocals.
Annie, originally from Kansas, has been deeply involved in music from a very young age and has been singing for as long as she can remember. As a kid, she learned piano, drums, and guitar, and she was significantly involved in all of the music related extracurriculars available at her school. She first started performing as a soloist in middle school, and with the encouragement of her friends, she started performing in 2012 at the coffee shop in her hometown. Once in college, she established herself as an artist in her community, and after winning the campus version of “The Voice” in 2017, she had the opportunity to open for AJR when they performed on campus. Around this time, she connected with music producer/engineer Riley Corbin at one of her performances at a local cocktail lounge, and in late 2017, she released her debut single, “Diamond in the Rough”. Her follow-up single, “Loaded Gun” was released a year later.
After graduating, Annie took a job in Tucson and has been based there since early 2020. She took a hiatus from music for a year as she adjusted to her new home and the world during the pandemic, and she resumed performing in late 2021. Annie began forming her band around this time and picked up a keyboard player she worked closely with in her job. Her bassist is a friend and co-worker that she retained from college back in Kansas, and in early 2023, she met her guitarist due to a scheduling error at a local venue. In 2022, she also reconnected with Riley to resume working together. Her third single, “Drowning”, was released in May of 2023, and her fourth release, “Transamerican”, was released in September of 2023.
