Album: wht.rbbt.obj – Oscar Bravo Juliett

There’s something cinematic and honest about “Oscar Bravo Juliett” the new album from Chicago’s noir-rock duo wht.rbbt.obj. It’s the final chapter of their NATO Call Sign Trilogy, a journey that started with Whiskey Hotel Tango and Romeo Bravo Bravo Tango, but this one feels like the real explosion they’ve been building toward. The husband-and-wife team of Frank and River Rabbitte once again turns their chemistry into sound, balancing smoky soul and gritty rock in a way that feels intimate and dangerous.

The album opens with “Fallout/Shelter” a calm and soothing piece built around acoustic instrumentation and River’s captivating vocals. It feels almost fragile but beautiful, like something you’d hear in the quiet moments of a late-night film. Then comes “Monsters of Nothing” a standout track with energy, rhythm and a solid groove that hits hard without losing its emotional pull. It’s full of texture and the production is spotless. The band also plans to release a special version of this track featuring Chicago rapper FURY, which sounds like a collaboration worth waiting for.

“Broken Luck” is a song that stands tall with its rich songwriting and an amazing vocal performance. The guitar work here, especially the solo brings real power to the song. And then there’s “Daddy Lollipop” the sassiest and most fun track on the record. It’s confident, playful and bursting with charisma. You can feel how much fun they had making this one. “Cash On Delivery” keeps that bold and energetic tone going, while “Secrets” slows things down just enough to show off River’s commanding voice and emotional delivery.

One of the most touching moments comes with “Low Key”. It returns to an acoustic sound and the lyrics carry an honesty that’s easy to feel. Knowing that this song was written years ago, before the band’s name even existed, makes it even more special, it feels like a moment of pure truth. “Tailspin Radio” is another rich and full-sounding piece with the kind of vocals that just take over the room. And finally, “I Get Stuck” ends the album with an amazing rock n roll rhythm that is loud, proud and full of fire.

Throughout Oscar Bravo Juliett, what stands out most is how alive the music feels. The production is polished but never sterile; the band’s sound stays raw, soulful, and full of emotion. Every song feels like it’s part of something bigger—a story that’s finally come full circle.

We really love what wht.rbbt.obj are doing here. Their music has personality and a heartbeat. River’s vocals are haunting when they need to be, bold when it counts and Frank’s arrangements make everything sound cinematic without feeling overdone. This album isn’t just the end of a trilogy, it’s proof that this band knows exactly who they are and what they want to say. This album is the kind of record that sticks with you long after it ends and you’ll love it.

ABOUT THE BAND:

wht.rbbt.obj (“White Rabbit Object”) is a rock ‘n’ roll reckoning. Lauded by Rolling Stone for their “late-night decadence and velvet tones,” this femme fatale fronted powerhouse blends garage rock, blues, and soul with an unapologetic edge. What started as a covert side project between married duo Frank and River (Toussaint) Rabbitte has evolved into a four-piece tour de force, crafting music that lives on the edge of chaos and melody, delivering a sonic gut punch with every note.

Their sound defies easy categorization—described as “Bluesy, Smoky, Sexy, and Raw,” wht.rbbt.obj has been likened to “Amy Winehouse meets The Black Keys in a game of strip poker” (James Van Osdol, WKQX’s Car Con Carne) and “Heavily distorted roadhouse raunch” (NPR’s Sound Opinions). UpToHear Music claims, “wht.rbbt.obj will blow everything you own out of Earth’s orbit,” while Music Republic Magazine put it bluntly: “If Amy Winehouse and Janis Joplin are your bag, then get a load of River Rabbitte.”

wht.rbbt.obj was recently named one of Do312’s Chicago Bands You Should Be Listening To. wht.rbbt.obj isn’t here to blend in. They’re here to bring back the danger, the romance, and the raw, electric thrill of rock ‘n’ roll.
