Album: Sheila Weidendorf – We Are Luminous

Sheila Weidendorf’s debut album “We Are Luminous” is truly something special. This record is 11 tracks of pure, extemporaneous piano improvisation, taking listeners on an introspective journey through hauntingly beautiful melodies and a profound sense of creativity. It’s a masterpiece from start to finish, and it’s clear that Sheila has a deep connection to the piano and is able to explore and express emotions freely.

The album is a blend of classical music and a unique improvisational style. Her piano work is very impressive throughout. Each track is different, from meditative and reflective to pieces that could easily be a part of a sweeping film score. It’s not just music you hear, it’s music you feel.

The story behind this album makes it even more fascinating. During the COVID lockdown months, Sheila spent much of her time at her piano, free to create without constraints. This beautiful album started as personal improvisations that she shared on YouTube and then became this. Every note is that sense of authenticity, and it’s a deeply personal, relatable body of work. Her classical roots are evident, but it’s her ability to let go of structure and embrace spontaneity that makes this album unique. Her talent, her experience, her dedication to the piano, all of it is unmatched, and this album is proof of that.

This album is a breath of fresh air. The freedom in her music makes it feel alive and timeless. “We Are Luminous” delivers whether you need a moment of calm or a piece of music to inspire you. Sheila’s creativity really deserves to be heard by as many people as possible and it’s one of the best records we’ve heard this year.
