Album: Shapemess – Deuscape

Shapemess comes back with “Deuscape”, a project that shows how much care they put into building their sound. The album opens with “Formaldeide”, a deep and soothing piece that immediately shows how clean and atmospheric their production is. It really sets the mood quietly and confidently, like they’re inviting you into their space without saying a word.

“Grey Sunset” follows with the same kind of shadowy feeling but a bit more haunting. The creativity in the production stands out here, there’s something cold and dreamy at the same time. Then comes “Still Forward”, which ended up being the track we kept replaying. The rhythm and tones fit together so nicely that the whole track just moves with its own calm energy.

Later in the album, “Argon 7” and “Hold Your Breath” switch things up with a minimal and simple style that makes every small detail feel important. “Alteration” brings back warmer tones and some really nice instrumentation and it’s one of those tracks that quietly grabs your attention.

Across all ten tracks, the duo shows how good they are at shaping moods and building little worlds out of sound. You can really hear how much time they spend shaping small details. The production is excellent and the instruments blend in a way that feels smooth. They really know how to play with atmospheres and there’s a nice balance between darker tones and softer moments.

They blend electronic textures with warm melodies in a really smooth way. This album is a unique experience from start to finish. We enjoyed every second of it and we think this duo is definitely a name worth following. Their sound is special and we’re sure more people are going to notice that soon.
