Denacus, an independent recording artist hailing from the rural town of Moree in North-Northwest NSW, Australia, has unleashed his latest single, “Dark Days,” and it’s nothing short of a visceral journey into the depths of his own mental anguish. The track is a poignant exploration of despair, rage, and the haunting echoes of depression, drawing inspiration from the dark realms of trap metal while channeling the essence of artists like Ghostemane, Corpse, Istasha The Scrub, and Kxllswxtch.
In a brief but candid interview with us, Denacus opens up about the tragic catalyst behind “Dark Days.” Battling his own demons, he reveals that the song was born from a period of personal struggle compounded by the loss of a dear friend to suicide. Seeking a cathartic outlet for his grief, Denacus embarked on a musical odyssey, creating a piece that would be a testament to both his pain and the memory of his departed friend.
The sonic landscape of “Dark Days” is a blend of dark trap metal, ragecore, and horrorcore – genres that serve as a fitting canvas for Denacus’ raw and emotive storytelling. The track is an unapologetic descent into anarchy and nihilism, with horror-themed lyrics that paint a vivid picture of the inner turmoil associated with mental illness. Denacus’ deep, croaky vocals, paired with a distorted, heavy 808 bass, create an immersive experience that leaves an indelible mark on the listener.
