Jack Hyphen was born out of the split of Herefordshire Indie/Rock Band Point Zero, who Jack was the front man of.
After a musical hiatus, acoustic singles such as ‘Not Aligned’ showcased the singer songwriter’s vocal and lyrical prowess, but Jack Hyphen was always destined for a much larger sound, thus transforming from a solo effort into a 4-piece alternative pop/rock outfit in mid-2019.
Combining aspects of indie pop and alternative rock, Jack and his band delivered an atmospheric, punchy and occasionally ethereal sound on his debut EP – Stops / Changes. (Released November 2019)
After recording “I Wanna Know (For Once)” at Abbey Road Studios, just 2 months before the pandemic hit, Jack released this song amidst the first lockdown, along with a music video shot around Manchester / Salford.
As for most musicians, lockdown left the reality of surviving as full-time performer, and funding the recording planned, look almost impossible. After taking time away from that aspect, Jack faced with a COVID related 2 weeks self-isolation. Instead of fully lose his mind, he decided he would write, record and produce a EP. Which was a humbling / enjoyable experience. This EP birthed some fan favorites like “Rarity “.
Jack Hyphen, Independent artist based in Manchester, U.K, is a midlands born songwriter, guitarist, vocalist and live performer, harnessing a blend of Alternative Rock, Indie Pop, melodic acoustic and everything in between to create an atmospheric, punchy and occasionally ethereal sound. The feel and lyrics in his songs are earnest of often profound; speaking to universal truths. Jack Hyphen often runs well turned-out local gigs and has had local radio and BBC introducing Radio Play.
When Jack decided to quit his full time job for music, he organised and ran an EP Launch at Sacred Trinity Church in Salford and the show SOLD OUT with over 125 people attending. The next self run gig would reach the same numbers and was held at Tribeca in the city centre of Manchester.
2023, Jack is back with new music “Flee”. This single is the start of a wave of new music Jack will be releasing this year that showcases Jack Hyphen’s signature sound and soulful rock pop style. “Flee” itself has natural hooks throughout and you’ll feel like you have traveled through the music-sphere after listening.
