Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how your childhood impacted your musical direction?
A) I grew up in the country, on a dairy farm, so country music was just our lifestyle! I have fond memories of helping my dad in the barn, he said I was always “distracted by the music”. I didn’t come from a musical family, but I was part of music in our church and I fell in love with singing probably from my experiences there.
As a rising country artist, how do you feel your music has evolved since your early days in the industry? What message do you have for anyone who is about to discover “Karli June”?
A) I think my music is more “me” than it’s ever been! I am a small town, homegrown girl and this song especially is the story of the place I am from! If you’re new to me, I hope the music makes you enjoy life a little more – and I hope it makes you feel right at home.
Who is the most inspiring artist for you right now? And where do you find inspiration for making music?
A) I’ve always been heavily inspired by Carrie Underwood. I think she and I have a similar story, coming from small farms, singing in church, etc. I try to sing about the things that really make me who I am. I also want the music to feel fun and I think of the Live Show a lot when I am writing as well.
Can you tell us about the inspiration behind your new single, “Feel Like Home”?
A) This song is about all the feelings that a hometown or small town gives you. It’s about finding love that feels as “right” as that.
How did the collaboration with Ryan Langdon come about for this song?
A) After Gavin Slate and I wrote the song, we did a demo and then started looking for a male singer who had the right voice and story. We wanted the song to be authentic to them! Ryans name came up in a meeting with my manager and I, and we sent the song to Ryan.. he loved it right away.
Did you face any challenges while writing or recording “Feel Like Home”?
A) Honestly, no! It came together really easy. The hardest part was finding the right singer to sing on it with me!
What is the message of your music? And what are your goals as an artist?
A) I have three key messages in music. Positivity, Hometown/ Small Town Upbringing, and FUN! I want to leave giving the audience a big boost.
Who is your dream artist to collaborate with? (dead or alive)
A) Dolly Parton.
What is your advice for people interested in pursuing music as a career or for those trying to enter the industry?
A) Don’t give up and learn from every setback! It’s not an easy path but if you stay committed to learning and growing.. And have a lot of patience.. It will be worth it!!
If you could go back in time and give a younger you some words of wisdom, what would they be?
A) Don’t worry about the “no’s” – what’s meant for you will find you!
