Q: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how your childhood impacted your musical direction?
A: I grew up in a small northern town. I was heavily involved in church and that’s where I learned to play. I think that those simple singable melodies have impacted how I write music even to this day.
Q: How are you planning on growing your fan base and sharing your music with the world? What message do you have for anyone who is about to discover “Andrew Hyatt”?
A: I mean my approach has always been 1 new fan at a time. I try and bleed honesty into the music I create so I feel like that’s what people will find.
Q: Who is the most inspiring artist for you right now? And where do you find inspiration for making music?
A: I find inspiration in the highs and lows of life and love. I’m not the type of writer that can create from a fictional place in my mind. At the moment I think Tyler Childers is my main inspiration.
Q: Can you tell us about the story or message behind the song, “Still Somethin.”?
A: Still Somethin’ is about those moments in music that are wrapped in nostalgia. We all have them! Be it your first time turning on the radio in your car when you got your licence or your first kiss… there’s so many moments that songs attach themselves to! That’s what this song is about.
Q: How would you describe your sound in one word for potential listeners?
A: Sweaty !? Haha
Q: Did you face any challenges while writing or recording “Still Somethin”?
A: So when recording Still Somethin’ I was waiting on a vocal surgery, we tracked a version then I went back and re-sang it post-surgery! It was worth the wait!
Q: What is the message of your music? And what are your goals as an artist?
A: My goal as an artist is simple… make music for myself and no one else. If someone else loves what I create then that’s a bonus. I think the messages in my music vary… I’m not sure there is one singular message.
Q: Who is your dream artist to collaborate with? (dead or alive)
A: Lori McKenna.
Q: What is your advice for people interested in pursuing music as a career or for those trying to enter the industry?
A: Pursue with reckless abandon. Be prepared to lose everything multiple times over. This industry will take everything from you but it will also give you everything you need in return.
Q: If you could go back in time and give a younger you some words of wisdom, what would they be?
A: If you could go back in time and give a younger you some words of wisdom, what
would they be?
