Q: Hey, can you tell us a bit about where you come from, and what made you want to start a career in music?
A: Hey, thanks for having me. Well, I’ve always been surrounded by music since I was little. I woke up, there was music playing, I had lunch, there was music playing, I had dinner, there was music playing and this happened everyday for as long as I can remember. When you’re surrounded by music at a young age, inevitably you dream about being a singer or generally being involved in the music you hear coming from the radio and from the walkman. So I’d say that my past heavily influenced my choices in life, leading up to this point where I’m at in life.
Q: And what other artists have you found yourself listening to lately?
A: Well, I listen to a variety of artists all the time. Because I’m a producer as well I try to listen to as much music from different genres as possible, because you never know when a chord or a lyric you hear will influence your next song. So to put names out there, I’ll have to check the last songs I’ve added to my favorites on Apple Music. OneRepublic, Hillari, Monsieur Nov, Saint Levant, Sabrina Claudio, Coldplay, Lana Lubany, and Gonçalo Santana. Yes, I listen to my own music. But these are the artists that I’m currently listening on a daily.
Q: Who were your first and strongest musical influences?
A: My first and strongest musicals influences came definitely from my family. But also from the cartoons I’d watch back in the day. I don’t know how cartoons have evolved but 10, 15 years ago there was a lot of music involved. I believe that is also a reason why I like so many genres of music.
Q: You have just released your new single, ‘Too Soon’. Is there a story behind it?
A: Yes it is. Well I’ve mentioned this on my Instagram before, but the story goes that last winter I was tired of the cold weather, no sun, no birds singing and I was going through some issues in my head, so I decided to write a song that reminded me of summer. But not just a summer. The best summer of your life. The kind of summer that lasts forever.
Q: Can we expect a new EP or even an album from you in the near future?
A: I’m actually working on a video album that is set to be released next year, but for now I’ll just be releasing singles and some hints for this bigger project.
Q: What do you feel are the key elements in your music that should resonate with listeners, and how would you personally describe your sound?
A: I believe that the work and emotion I put into my music are what makes me connect with the listener. Because there is no machine. Just a human being trying to express his thoughts and feelings the best way possible through songwriting and music. I’m still figuring out what my sound is like, but I’d say it’s a mix of Pop with R&B mixed with alternative singer-songwriter type of music. I don’t know if that makes sense, but that’s what I feel like describes my music the best. Because like I said, I’m constantly listening to new music and being influenced by it, but also I could never stop to listen to the music I’ve been hearing since I was little, so I’m a mix of the music and life from then till now.
Q: Do you feel that your music is giving you back just as much fulfillment as the amount of work you are putting into it, or are you expecting something more?
A: I know that being an independent artist and having, so to say, no one behind you doing all the work I do by myself it’s more complicated to stand out from the crowd, but at the same time I strongly believe that the people that listen to my music now are here fot the long run. And like I said many times before, I do music for myself because I enjoy playing music, discovering new sounds, messing around with words and bring songs to life that came literally from my head. That alone fascinates me every time I finish a song and to be able to share this music and have people listening to it, means the world to me. It doesn’t matter if it’s one person, ten or one hundred people. I’ll always be thankful for every listener, because there are so many talented artists and bigger names, but those ten, twenty, fifty, or hundred people ,during their day and struggles chose me and that is the most rewarding thing the music gives me and no money in the world could change.
Q: Could you describe your creative processes? How do usually start, and go about shaping ideas into a completed song?
A: It depends. I spend hours and hours in my studio at home messing around with synths, sounds and drums. When I have a four-bar loop I tend to create melodies and right of the bat ideas flow. On other days I’m sitting in my couch, playing guitar and instantly words fall in my notes app. It depends on the mood to be honest. But it usually happens like this.
Q: What has been the most difficult thing you’ve had to endure in your life or music career so far?
Writers block. The world ends once you feel uninspired and unable to create. You feel like it’ll never come back, your creativity had an expiring date and you’re out of ideas. It can take years for the sparkle to fire up again, but it always comes back, eventually.
Q: On the contrary, what would you consider a successful, proud or significant point in your life or music career so far?
A: Like I said before, the fact that humans resonate and listen to the music I create in my room, is special. They have the choice to read millions of books, listen to millions of songs, watch millions of movies, go to thousands of concerts, but they choose to listen to a song, from a guy that is not being pushed and sold as a product by labels and radios, if that’s not special, I don’t know what its.
