Rootiger, the talented singer-songwriter, is back with a new EP titled “Mary.” This collection of songs represents a significant period in Rootiger’s life, encompassing his experiences in the military and his longing to break free. With “Mary,” Rootiger pays homage to his late Grandma Mary Dunford while exploring his deep-rooted love for folk and Americana music. The EP showcases a fusion of unique rhythmic elements and unconventional songwriting, setting it apart as a captivating blend of indie rock and singer-songwriter stylings.

The name “Mary” holds a special meaning behind the EP. Rootiger dedicates this musical endeavor to his beloved late Grandma Mary Dunford, who played a significant role in his life. By naming the EP after her, Rootiger pays tribute to her memory and the impact she had on him. It serves as a heartfelt gesture, infusing the EP with a sense of personal connection and emotional depth.

“Mary” marks a departure from Rootiger’s usual indie rock sound, delving deeper into his passion for folk and Americana music. These genres serve as the foundation for the EP, lending it a distinct character and sonic landscape. Listeners can expect to immerse themselves in the rich melodies, evocative storytelling, and acoustic textures that define the folk and Americana traditions. One of the notable aspects of “Mary” is its captivating rhythmic diversity. Rootiger experiments with various rhythmic feels, incorporating time signature changes and offbeat percussion elements. This infusion of unconventional rhythms creates an engaging and dynamic listening experience. Tracks like “Cabin” showcase the EP’s ability to establish a driving rhythm that stays with the listener, leaving a lasting impression.

Rootiger describes his musical style as “left of center” or “kinda weird” singer-songwriter music. This description captures the EP’s unique charm and individuality. Rootiger’s introspective and thought-provoking lyrics, combined with his distinct musical approach, create a compelling blend of singer-songwriter sensibilities that transcend traditional boundaries. By embracing this artistic freedom, Rootiger’s music stands out as an authentic representation of his creative vision.

Rootiger’s EP “Mary” takes listeners on a heartfelt journey, merging personal experiences, folk influences, and the artist’s distinctive singer-songwriter style. Rootiger pays homage to his late Grandma Mary Dunford through this musical offering, channeling his emotions into a collection of tracks that resonate with authenticity. “Mary” invites listeners to explore the depths of Rootiger’s soulful compositions, embracing the unconventional and celebrating the joy of rhythmic experimentation.
