EP: Modern Life Elixir – Wet Fleece

Toronto-based band Modern Life Elixir has released their latest EP, “Wet Fleece,” which features a collection of introspective and emotionally charged tracks that explore the idea of carrying around old habits and ideas that no longer serve us. The band’s unique sound and thoughtful lyrics make “Wet Fleece” a standout release in the indie rock scene.

According to the band, the EP’s title is a metaphor for the weight that old habits and ideas can have on us as we age. What was once comforting and familiar can become a burden that we carry with us. This theme is explored throughout the EP’s eight tracks, which range from introspective ballads to upbeat rock anthems.

The EP opens with “WET,” a melancholic track that sets the tone for the rest of the release. The track is driven by Trevor’s pulsating bassline, creating a sense of tension and urgency that carries throughout the EP. The track “Ready” is a standout, with its catchy melody and poignant lyrics that will get stuck in your head in no time. The band’s dynamic instrumentation is also a highlight of the EP, with Dave’s tight drumming anchoring each track and providing a steady beat for the other instruments to play off of. Max’s guitar work is intricate and thoughtful, creating a soundscape that complements the emotional depth of the lyrics.

Overall, “Wet Fleece” is an impressive release from a band that has honed their sound and message over years of playing together. The EP is a testament to the power of introspection and self-reflection, and the band’s ability to capture those complex emotions through their music. Fans of indie rock and thoughtful lyrics should definitely check out Modern Life Elixir’s latest release.

ABOUT THE BAND:

Modern Life Elixir is a Toronto-based band that came together through the wild world of Kijiji (affectionately dubbed ‘Canadian Craigslist’).

We have been hard at work, writing and rehearsing our music for our first string of shows this summer. We pride ourselves on our ability to blend fruity pop tunes with heavy guitar textures. Our music is a concoction of catchy melodies, frivolous lyrics, and a love of Y2K-era television visuals.

Max– vocals, guitar
Dave – drums
Trevor – bass
