London-based singer-songwriter Hoian grabbed our attention recently with her debut single, “In the Ring,” and we can’t wait to share it with the world. The first few seconds will be enough to have you hooked for a long time.
The chorus of this song is amazing and will get stuck in your mind in no time. You may find yourself singing out by the next morning. The lyrics are well-written, easy to listen to, and mesh perfectly with the vocal melodies. The instrumental is enjoyable, the energy is nice and the production is smart and sounds professional. Hoian has one of the catchiest and most charming voices we’ve ever heard and her performance on this record is on another level. Her vocals made us have to rewind the song over and over again the first time we heard it. She has an amazing passion and her music is different and deserves more attention.
We love what Hoian brought to the table today and we’re super excited to hear what other songs have up her sleeve. But until that happens, we’ll just have to keep this new single on repeat. ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Hoian is a musician and producer of Guyanese and Eritrean heritage, born in Merseyside, now living in South London The project was conceived during lockdown, when Hoian began learning production at home and wanted a way to create full compositions combining instinctive melodic prowess with a love of experimentation. From this Hoian was born. Her debut single ‘In The Ring’ is a multifaceted harmony-laden letter in response to loss and how she overcame the fear of trying again. It is the first of many songs to be released this year, with influences ranging from Julia Jacklin to Tame Impala, Radiohead to James Blake and Deftones to Little Dragon.
