We are super excited to share with you Lies We Were Told’s new EP, “Dark Days” a little collection of tunes that will get stuck in your head for a long time. This EP is one of the more promising projects we’ve heard in a while and provides the listener with a proper introduction to the sound and style of Lies We Were Told.
The EP features four tracks that highlight the genuine and smart writing style of the band. Upon hearing this project for the first time, we knew it was something special and couldn’t get it out of our heads. The instrumentals are outstanding, and the melodies are incredibly catchy. The vocals are amazing and the lyrics are original and well-written. The energy of these tracks is incredible and the production skills are impressive. From the lyrics to the melodies, you can tell that this band’s musical style comes from a genuine place. Something we always look for when discovering new brands. It’s difficult to imagine that only four tracks could do the trick, but indeed they have. Dark Days is a phenomenal introduction to Lies We Were Told. ABOUT THE BAND:
Heavy and melodic, pulling from post-punk, darkwave, pop and gothic themes, Lies We Were Told have been playing and recording in Portland, Oregon since 2013. Their sound, though unique, is reminiscent of earlier bands like Killing Joke and Joy Division, evoking a sound from another era, while remaining at home alongside modern bands in the post-punk revival camp such as Interpol, Editors, and The Faint.
