WHAT THE ARTIST SAYS ABOUT THIS SONG:
“Time and again, I find my music coming back to themes of abandonment, denial and endings. In Back To Me, I was able to work through the absence of a parent and how that shows up when romantic relationships end. I’d find myself completely unwilling to let go, because I’d do anything to avoid reopening that abandonment wound. Writing this song helped me process that – and I truly hope it helps others with similar relational dynamics .”
Lucy Lane burst onto London’s music scene at the start of 2022, going off script and reinventing herself as a thirty-something pop star. With her direct lyrics and distinctive sound, her music explores everything from sexual frustration to anger and abandonment, blending her love of unapologetic pop, classic rock and euphoric electronic. She thrives on writing anthemic lyrics and catchy melodies, creating a tango between classic arrangements and contemporary themes. With no training or musical background, writing and producing were Lucy’s ‘pandemic banana bread’. She can’t bake, so she learned bedroom production instead. Led by guts and intuition, she has refused to let imposter’s syndrome, ageism and industry elitism get in her way – allowing her music to become a journey of creative un-numbing and personal freedom.
