Q: Hey, can you tell us a bit about where you come from, and what made you want to start a career in music?
A: I grew up around Toronto, Canada. I was always obsessed with hearing different music, learning instruments and recording. I knew once I got to high school and started playing in bands and performing that this was how I wanted to experience life.
Q: And what other artists have you found yourself listening to lately?
A: I’m around a lot of local artists so I have the pleasure of enjoying their music. I’m also enjoying the new music and success of a band from back home in Toronto, The Birthday Massacre.
Q: Who were your first and strongest musical influences?
A: Growing up with music from the 80’s, it’s always been a part of me. When I got older I found music live Nirvana and Green Day. I got pretty obsessed with some Industrial music for a period of time. Beastie Boys and Daft Punk also really captivated me.
Q: You have just released your new single, ‘In Dreams’. Is there a story behind it?
A: Time feels like it’s going by so quickly and my daughter is getting older. I imagine a place in dreams where there is no time and we can always be together.
Q: Can we expect a new EP or even an album from you in the near future?
A: You can, I’m constantly writing and recording music. I can say there will be some more singles released before that.
Q: What do you feel are the key elements in your music that should resonate with listeners, and how would you personally describe your sound?
A: Lyrically I never hold back, I’m not afraid to put out material that could be censored. I will always offer deep and true emotions. A lot of my music will offer you a beat you can move to or sounds to get lost in.
It’s Alternative/Electro/Dark Dance.
Q: Do you feel that your music is giving you back just as much fulfillment as the amount of work you are putting into it, or are you expecting something more?
A: Music will always be a lot of work. I enjoy every step of the way and every performance I do. I manage my expectations in comparison to where I am in the growth process. If an artist can’t manage to do that it can lead down a dark path.
I will always push and move forwards towards my goals and growth.
Q: Could you describe your creative processes? How do usually start, and go about shaping ideas into a completed song?
A: I always record as I write. I also keep a list of song ideas I want to do. When I feel a song vibes with an idea I continue to build the song lyrically.
Q: What has been the most difficult thing you’ve had to endure in your life or music career so far?
A: Learning the hard way, managing expectations, sudden growth and then self destruction. Coming back from that is very hard but worthwhile experience and lessons.
Q: On the contrary, what would you consider a successful, proud or significant point in your life or music career so far?
A: The ability to operate independently and reach people with our technology now is awesome, it’s changed everything and we never used to have that ability like we do today. I’m finally at a point where I can set out plans and goals for a whole year, executive and reach them most of the time.
