Q: Hey, can you tell us a bit about where you come from, and what made you want to start a career in music?
A: I’m from Long Beach, CA . I wanted to start a career in music because I fell in love wit HipHop culture, music, and how it make you feel. Music is a Universal Language, it’s nothing like it.
Q: And what other artists have you found yourself listening to lately?
A: Westside Boogie, Lil Baby, Kalan.FrFr, Young Devyn, and Kie.
Q: Who were your first and strongest musical influences, and why the name ‘Wavvii Baby’?
A: Lil Wayne fasho, I’d be lyin if I said otherwise.
As far as my name, I changed my name before. It used to be T.Marie, and Beachgirl. But I wanted to switch it up. I still kept a beach theme, but people used to say I was wavy how I moved, so then came ‘Wavvii Baby’.
Q: You have just released your new single, ‘Time’. Is there a story behind it?
A: Yeah, Time was definitely personal. I was in a place where I realized it was difficult to balance a relationship and everything I had going. So I wrote about that and the things that come with it. Plus I feel like a lot of people can relate to that. “Ima busy ****, but I’ll make time today, for you”.
Q: Can we expect a new EP or even an album from you in the near future?
A: Of course! Me and my team working hard as we speak to roll out something as soon as top of 2023. So stay tuned.
Q: What do you feel are the key elements in your music that should resonate with listeners, and how would you personally describe your sound?
A: The key elements are the fact that I don’t have a sound that’s similar to most female artists. And I’m not afraid to explore different topics, I think that resonates a lot with my listeners.
I would say my sound is eclectic, you never know what you gonna get but you know it’s gone be some heat. lol
Q: Do you feel that your music is giving you back just as much fulfillment as the amount of work you are putting into it, or are you expecting something more?
A: As an Artist your gonna feel like your underrated if the world isn’t gravitating towards your every move. And I’m not gone lie, sometimes I feel like I don’t get the recognition I deserve. But great things take time, I know Ima make it, and my time will come. So Ima just keep workin hard, and minding my business. The tide will shift soon enough.
Q: Could you describe your creative processes? How do you usually start, and go about shaping ideas into a completed song?
A: Sometimes I just write with no beat, just a feeling. Then I can match it up with something. But a lot of times, I just go through beats till I find something that talks to me. I make ideas from life experiences and having convos with people around me. Real life is what I use to complete every song.
Q: What has been the most difficult thing you’ve had to endure in your life or music career so far?
A: Navigating the internet. I love people but hate the internet. I just know it’s necessary for where I’m heading. But as soon as I’m on. Ima hire somebody for that, because it’s not for me.
Q: On the contrary, what would you consider a successful, proud or significant point in your life or music career so far?
A: It would have to be the day I received my gold and platinum plaque for songwriting. I took a risk and worked so hard, and it paid off.
