Q: Hey, can you tell us a bit about where you come from, and what made you want to start a career in music?
A: Born and raised in Sydney, Australia, but moved to Toronto, Canada at the beginning of 2018. My parents put me in dancing and singing lessons from
such a young age, so it’s always been part of me, but ever since I started writing and making connections in Toronto that’s what made me want to focus on it more and share my stories with the world.
Q: And what other artists have you found yourself listening to lately?
A: You will always find me listening to Michael Jackson, Bruno Mars, Ariana Grande and Queen.
Q: Who were your first and strongest musical influences?
A: Britney Spears, The Backstreet Boys, The Spice Girls and Michael Jackson
Q: You have just released your new single, ‘not over getting over you’. Is there a story behind it?
A: Of course! lol
After listening to ‘Someone Like You’ by Adele, I could now relate to the song about missing someone that was once part of my life. That’s when my new song ‘not over getting over you’ was born. Reminiscing about my ex-boyfriend that I never got closure from. I was confused and confirmed that the relationship was definitely over for him, after seeing that he had proposed to his now wife.
Writing “not over getting over you” gave me closure and made me understand that relationships never really do end, even
when they physically have. We always carry a part of our past relationships with us, whether it’s good or bad. I know that I’ve learnt something from them all.another perspective on heartbreak and helps you heal.
Q: Can we expect a new EP or even an album from you in the near future?
A: I would love to release an EP or album! I have so many songs for the world to hear 🙂
Q: What do you feel are the key elements in your music that should resonate with listeners, and how would you personally describe your sound?
A: I would describe my sound as forever changing, evolving and growing with me because I’m changing and growing everyday. My music is very Pop and Brooke Stilla! That’s the best way to describe it. All my songs also contain a lot of triplets 😛 Think of a mix of sugar and spice!
Q: Do you feel that your music is giving you back just as much fulfillment as the amount of work you are putting into it, or are you expecting something more?
A: Music and being an artist is a hard industry especially if you’re independent. I write because I like to share my journal thoughts and to help me heal. I get so much fulfillment when I see people I know and don’t know connect with my lyrics and music for sure! The first release I had really high expectations and stressed myself out a bit, with this release I went in with a more chill mindset because I believe the song will say what it’s meant to say and do what it’s meant to do and reach the people that need it the most.
Q: Could you describe your creative processes? How do you usually start, and go about shaping ideas into a completed song?
A: I usually go to a session with a melody, song title or words from my journal. This session for ‘not over getting over you’ was a little different. I played some chords after listening to someone like you and the lyrics just came out. I quickly recorded the verse and pre and sent it to my producer Jonathan Karkar and said I think I have something here… He said ‘yeah, you f***ing do’ let’s finish it this week and so we did!
Q: What has been the most difficult thing you’ve had to endure in your life or music career so far?
A: For music it’s being patient and being able to balance life and trying to make a music career happen at the same time. Living in Toronto has been a rollercoaster for me. I moved here for a guy originally and there were a lot of hardships, but all the hardships made me the strong person I am today. Moving to a new country has definitely been one of the most difficult things I’ve done thus far in my life.
Q: On the contrary, what would you consider a successful, proud or significant point in your life or music career so far?
A: This song. I was scared to release it in case my ex heard it because I am actually over him (since I wrote the song 2 years ago now), but then I just rolled with it and I’m happy I did because people are connecting to it and loving it and that makes me happy. Another highlight is going on a yacht with Mel B 😛
