23-year-old singer-songwriter and street musician, Yukee, left us stuck on constant repeat with his first single “Dopamine,” and it’s one of the best songs we’ve heard in months.
Is a very personal track about living in the social media age as a Gen Z kid. “It’s about the struggle of living a fulfilling life in a time where you are constantly bombarded with highlights of everyone else’s best moments … you’re basically being told you need more all the time yet never feeling it’s enough.”
We listened to this song several times, but we still can’t find the right words to describe it. The minute we heard Yukee’s voice, we fell in love with it and couldn’t get it out of our heads. He has one of the richest voices we’ve ever heard, and this song shows off all the melodic tones of his stunning voice and shows how talented he is when it comes to writing songs. The lyrics are beautifully written and mesh perfectly with the vocal melodies. The instrumentation is catchy, and the production is simple and sounds professional. Yukee is a talented artist and has an amazing passion for his music. We really love his music and can’t wait to see where his career will go over the coming months. Check out the song for yourself and be sure to let us know what you think. Don’t forget to follow Yukee online to stay up to date!
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
23 year- old singer-songwriter and street musician, YUKEE’s, first single ‘Dopamine’ (out August 26th) is a very personal track about living in the social media age as a Gen Z kid. “It’s about the struggle of living a fulfilling life in a time where you are constantly bombarded with highlights of everyone else’s best moments … you’re basically being told you need more all the time yet never feeling it’s enough.”
The foundation for Yukee was laid in 2014 through countless bands, projects and experiments with different styles of music as both a guitarist and a singer. When the global pandemic hit he realized his need for being independent and self-reliant as a musician, so he started creating a show he could perform on the streets with just a guitar and his voice. Soon the great response from people on the street made him give up his day job and pay his rent just by playing music. YUKEE then decided to spend time in Costa Rica and Mexico to write his first album. He returned home to Germany with loads of songs in his backpack, playing both street performances and club shows, traveling around Europe selling his self-made CDs and saving money to go into the studio.
Now YUKEE releases his first track ‘Dopamine’ written in Costa Rica, Leipzig and Berlin, and recorded in Bear-Cave studio Cologne with friend and producer Luis Müller-Wallraf.
“I want this song to be a reminder to myself and everyone who wants to live a good life right here, right now and quite offline”
