Q: Hey, can you tell us a bit about where you come from, and what made you want to start a career in music?
A: I’m from detroit and for as long as i can remember i’ve been around music whether it was my mom singing to me, hearing jazz on the radio or my grandpa playing saxophone for me. i started out in band and got my hands on a DAW and i’ve been running ever since!
Q: And what other artists have you found yourself listening to lately?
A: I have really diverse music tastes but i love my classics, jimi hendrix, nirvana and the clash from the modern side a lot of young thug (free him), tame impala and kanye west
Q: Who were your first and strongest musical influences?
A: The one who really got me into making music was skrillex i really wanna work with him one day! but now that i’m not producing i’d say more of the weeknd cause he showed me that it could be really cool to be a singer! the artist who really showed me what it means to be a artist is kurt cobain with how he was able to create a community and stand up for what was right!
Q: You have just released your new mixtape ‘Never Mind’. Is there a story behind it?
A: NEVER MIND is just like the attitude i’ve had for a lot of my life so much stuff would stop me cause i would catch so much criticism for everything and then one day i was like fuck it imma just do it anyway. with never mind being my first rap tape out there i know people necessarily aren’t looking for that for me but i’m putting it out anyway! also i just wanted to show how much i’ve improved as an artist and break the dreaded drop anxiety.
Q: Can we expect a new EP or even an album from you in the near future?
A: Of course! i’m always working so i have like 3 or 4 projects in the vault haha. i really wanna drop them but at the same time i announced my album a while ago and never dropped that so now i’m at the point where i’m like i really wanna drop that but it’s a lot of pain that comes with that one cause i want it to be perfect and it’s a tribute to my mom so i’ve gone through a bunch of different versions
Q: What do you feel are the key elements in your music that should resonate with listeners, and how would you personally describe your sound?
A: I try to be really creative with the way i approach my music so the creativity and innovation is one i can’t promise that it’s like some galaxy brain creativity but definitely something different for sure! second I try to add as much emotion as i can to my vocals and lyrics so hopefully something that you can connect with and feel!!! last you can expect me to leave a message in there too cause i think all great art has a message.
Q: Do you feel that your music is giving you back just as much fulfillment as the amount of work you are putting into it, or are you expecting something more?
A: I’m definitely just getting started! at this point i’ve been recording vocals for 2 years! people tell me that my music is good but i’m not satisfied with that! i want to dominate and im definitely gonna outwork your favorite artists to get there.
Q: Could you describe your creative processes? How do usually start, and go about shaping ideas into a completed song?
A: I typically just punch in! if it’s serious i’ll write like 4 bars at a time to get the flow switches right. sometimes if im really in a flow i’ll freestyle whole songs but it’s rare haha usually when im sober (rarely) don’t do drugs kids
Q: What has been the most difficult thing you’ve had to endure in your life or music career so far?
A: definitely losing my mom and my grandpa! both of them were big influences of mine, especially my mom, she would listen to all my songs and had a big influence on my sound even i’m stubborn and swear a lot haha (sorry mom)
Q: On the contrary, what would you consider a successful, proud or significant point in your life or music career so far?
A: definitely me continuing my music career i have mental health issues so i’m very hard on myself a lot of the time and wanna give up like every month but i know i gotta keep going! and i’m still here and getting better so you (yes you!!!) can do it too!!!! love ya keep fighting!!!!
