Q: Hey, can you tell us a bit about where you come from, and what made you want to start a career in music?
A: Hi there! I’m originally from New Jersey. I’m an Air Force veteran, and now I’m currently living in the Baltimore, Maryland area. I have always loved music. While it took me a while, I finally made a leap of faith in 2019.
Q: And what other artists have you found yourself listening to lately?
A: Chris Brown, Beyonce, Monica, Ari Lennox, FLO, and so many others!
Q: Who were your first and strongest musical influences?
A: Monica and Michael Jackson are some of my earliest and strongest influences musically. They both inspired me in ways I can’t quite explain; but there’s a deep and strong connection I have to their artistry.
Q: You have just released a new music video for ‘Proud’. Is there a story behind it?
A: ‘Proud’ is a really special song to me because it talks about my relationship with my husband. It also talks about how I’m proud of myself, how I’m proud of my loved ones, and it’s a celebratory type record. I wanted to make a song that can boost your inner confidence, and create a sense of reassurance that says “Hey, you’re doing great! Keep it up!”.
I love that the video depicts my husband and I on a deserted beach; with this large tree that has crashed into the water. I was it as a very symbolic scene to me, and play on the life of my husband and I. We have been through so much over the past 13 years together. We’ve really grown through the good, bad, great, & ugly. And I’m proud of that: because we’re still here and our future is getting brighter and brighter!
Q: Can we expect a new EP or even an album from you in the near future?
A: My project “The Arrival” dropped this spring; so check out my singles and videos if you haven’t from that project: “Reign Love” & “Proud” .
My 3-Track EP ‘33’ drops very very soon! But the first track from it, ‘Do Ya’ is out now!
Q: What do you feel are the key elements in your music that should resonate with listeners, and how would you personally describe your sound?
A: Some of the key elements in my music I’d say are soul, passion, love, inspiration, melody, and authentic, personal songwriting. They encompass my sound and make it unique to only me: it’s me telling my story in a way that only I can. I also try to infuse my influences from several different genres in my music.
Q: Do you feel that your music is giving you back just as much fulfillment as the amount of work you are putting into it, or are you expecting something more?
A: It is incredibly fulfilling. It has been a healing, therapeutic, and inspiring journey so far. Of course I’m still dreaming bigger, but I am quite happy!
Q: Could you describe your creative processes? How do usually start, and go about shaping ideas into a completed song?
A: When I’m creating; I like to be in solitude; in my own space and a place where I feel free to create. I’m all about vibes; and being in a space that helps cultivate the creative energy within me. A song typically comes to me first in the form of a melody. And then I begin infusing my own life and story into it based off what I’m feeling in the moment.
Q: What has been the most difficult thing you’ve had to endure in your life or music career so far?
A: When I made the transition to becoming an artist, I was facing a lot of personal loss; with family members that I cherished so much. It changed me and shaped my music for sure. It’s been incredibly challenging being an independent artist as well! I’m doing it all by myself, but I hope and pray to get a team around me soon!
Q: On the contrary, what would you consider a successful, proud or significant point in your life or music career so far?
A: The growth and learning I’m experiencing being an independent artist is very rewarding. I know the hard work, dedication and investments are paying off and I’m proud of that!
