Talking About Ray – Never Been Happier Than Here

Talking About Ray’s new single “Never Been Happier Than Here” brings amazing indie pop-rock energy, with guitars and drums that get moving without making the song too heavy. The three-piece has a sound that is easy to get lost in, and this track gives them room to show what they can do.

Sarah’s vocals are strong and full of life. She sings with confidence and has a voice with real character, so the melody stays with you. The chorus is powerful and gives the track its strongest moment. We liked the vocal melodies here, especially when everything comes together.

The song is about those late hours when ideas keep coming and you lose track of time making something. That idea fits the music well. There is a dreamy side to the guitars, but the drums keep things moving and stop the track from drifting off. The bass is great and adds warmth underneath it all. Nothing gets lost in the mix. The recording sounds clear and the production is professional without taking the life out of the band.

There is a good balance between the softer atmosphere and the rock energy. It is not a track that needs a complicated story to work. The band keep the focus on the tune, the performance and that chorus, which is the right choice.

Talking About Ray have made a strong single that is catchy but still has some bite. We had a great time listening to it. This is a band we’ll be keeping an eye on from here and this new track is a good reason to start listening if you’re new to their sound.
