David Quinn – Lost Cause

David Quinn is back with a new single, “Lost Cause”, following his previous release “Credit Card Number”. This one takes a softer road at first and the guitar is the thing that pulls you in. It starts gently, leaving good space for his voice and the melody to settle in without too much happening around them.

The song looks at the hard side of wanting someone who may not want you in the same way. There is a sense of being stuck in a situation that is going nowhere and David keeps that idea personal and honest. His vocal delivery is smooth and the writing has an honesty that suits the atmosphere. The best part is how the track changes as it goes on. The production stays simple, but the sound slowly grows. The instrumentation gets louder and busier. That shift gives the later section a bit of a surprise but it doesn’t lose the song’s gentle side, either. The melodies are captivating and the sound design is impressive. It’s a lovely release with beautiful writing and a strong chorus.

We really enjoyed spending time with the vocals and the instrumentation here. This song is honest, easy to listen to, and quietly affecting without trying to explain every little thing. We’d be glad to hear what David Quinn does next.
