Yes, Adam, I’m running out of words to say about this tune! We just found this amazing artist, Adam Asher, who has just released “Pick it up (start again)”. It’s a song that keeps things very simple. It is just his voice and an electro acoustic guitar, and honestly, that is more than enough here. There is no need for a big production when the writing can carry the song very well.
The guitar is gentle and Asher puts most of the attention on his singing. His vocal delivery is confident. There is passion in it and you can hear that he means the words. The melodies are soft and memorable which makes the song easy to come back to.
We really liked his raw sound. Asher has only been writing songs for a few years, but there is already a great and clear sense of what he wants to say and how he wants to say it. This song has that honest songwriter quality where the simple parts matter. Nothing is hiding behind layers of production. You get the voice, the guitar, the melody and the words. That can be harder to pull off than it looks, trust me.
Asher is from Greater Manchester and has been writing since he was 17, with The Beatles (my favourite too) among the artists that first pulled him towards music. This is still the start of his journey and that makes the song even more interesting to us.
For our part, this is one of the best songs we have heard this month. We really liked spending time with his voice, and we will be following where Adam Asher goes next. There is something worth watching here, and we are curious to see how he grows from this point. His raw sound is already a strong part of his identity right now 🙂
