Itsy Bitsy Bikini – Ashleigh Harley

Ashleigh Harley has made her first release count with “Itsy Bitsy Bikini”, a bright pop single that comes with more than a summer hook. The song takes a familiar idea and gives it a bigger reason to be here, with part of its proceeds supporting young people living with serious and rare health conditions.

The track moves fast with a catchy pop sound and so much energy, but the production gives it more to discover than a simple summer tune. There are small sounds and textures around the melody that keep things busy. The mix is clean and everything has enough space. Her vocals are another strong point. They suit the upbeat music and keep the song moving. There is a nice balance between the playful side of the track and the more serious message behind it.

What also stands out is the story behind the release. Harley turned to songwriting during a very difficult period in her life and has since used music to support others. That gives this single a real purpose beyond being a seasonal pop track.

As a first release, this is a promising start. We liked the energy, the production and the positive message, and our main thought after listening was simple: there is plenty of room for Ashleigh Harley to grow from here. We will be interested to hear what comes next.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Ashleigh Harley is a singer-songwriter whose music was born from one of the most difficult chapters of her life. After facing severe complications from the genetic condition Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and being given just six months to live, Ashleigh found herself in a hospital chapel with her life support equipment beside her and a piano in front of her. Despite never having played before, she began creating music as a way to express the words she feared she might never get to say, turning pain, love, and gratitude into songs. Those first moments of songwriting became the foundation for tracks including Differently Abled and This Christmas, written during her time in hospital and shaped by her experiences of isolation, resilience, and the desire to live a more ordinary life. After making a recovery against the odds, Ashleigh dedicated herself to using music as a way to support others facing their own struggles, even founding a charity and donating the licensing rights to her music to help others.

Her journey has seen her work recognised through opportunities such as Differently Abled being selected for a prestigious showcase at London’s O2, with the song also set to feature in The Dark Horse, a film from an Oscar-winning team. Through honest storytelling and a powerful message of hope, Ashleigh Harley continues to turn personal hardship into music that connects, encourages, and inspires.
