Micah Salaberrios – Ascension

Micah Salaberrios is back with his second single “Ascension” after 6 years. It’s a reggae and hip-hop song that brings two sides of his musical background together without making the mix sound forced. Released in July, the track has a steady rhythm from the start with that warm reggae touch sitting nicely beside the rap delivery.

The song is about moving forward, leaving doubt behind and trying to reach something better. That message is there, but Micah does not turn the track into a heavy speech about it. The music carries most of the idea. The chorus is strong and easy to pick up, while his smooth delivery keeps everything moving.

There is also a lot happening in the production. The instrumentation is rich and changes enough to keep the track interesting and the mix gives each part room without making the song sound crowded. The recording quality is good too. Everything sounds clean here and the whole performance has been put together with care.

He has a rich voice and his tone is strong. It gives the melodies so much character, especially on the reggae side. There is a nice balance between the relaxed groove and the sharper hip-hop parts, which makes the track easy to play more than once.

We like what Micah Salaberrios has done here. This single is positive without becoming too sweet, and the blend of reggae and hip-hop gives it its distinctive sound. It is a good introduction to an artist with more to say and we will be interested to hear where his next releases take this sound.
