EP: Lex Bogs – I Know It’s Over

Lex Bogs just dropped her new EP “I Know It’s Over”, and honestly, it caught me off guard a bit. When I first saw her name pop up, I was expecting something soft, maybe indie pop or chilled-out vibes. But that idea didn’t last long once the first track kicked in.

“Feelings Fade, Flowers Die” opens the EP with a full band sound straight away. Big guitars, proper drums, and a lot more energy than expected. It leans into that early 2000s rock feel, but it doesn’t sound old or copied. The melodies are strong, and her voice really stands out. She’s got that rich tone that feels natural but still powerful, and she knows how to use it without overdoing anything. It’s confident but not forced.

Then “Over” comes in and keeps that energy going, but in a slightly different way. It starts loud instrumentally, but when the vocals arrive, they’re more controlled, almost held back. The song slowly builds, layer by layer, and by the time it hits the chorus, it really opens up. That chorus is probably one of the strongest moments on the EP. It’s emotional, a bit raw, and you can feel the weight of what she’s singing about. It doesn’t feel fake or over-polished which is important for this kind of sound.

“Honestly” follows and this one is a bit more direct. There’s a personal edge to it, like it’s coming from a real place rather than just being written to fit the EP. It’s still got that guitar-driven style, but the focus shifts more to the message and delivery. You can hear the frustration and honesty in her voice and it works well.

“Trust (Is A Weapon)” closes things out in a more stripped-back way compared to the others. It’s more personal, almost like a late-night thought turned into a song. It doesn’t try to be big or loud and that actually helps it stand out. It gives the EP a bit of balance and shows another side of her as an artist.

The whole EP circles around heartbreak, moving on, and trying to figure things out when something ends. It’s not trying to reinvent anything, but it doesn’t need to. The strength here is in how real it feels. The mix of emotional lyrics and guitar-heavy sound brings back a style that a lot of people probably miss, but it still feels fresh enough.

We think Lex Bogs has something solid here. It’s honest, it’s a bit rough around the edges in a good way, and it doesn’t feel like it’s trying too hard to fit into trends. If anything, that’s what makes it work.
