Maxine Louise just released her new EP “what i did for love”, and it’s a very honest and emotional project from start to finish. It’s not trying too hard or doing anything crazy, it just focuses on feelings, voice, and simple but strong songwriting, which honestly works really well here.
The EP opens with “Silhouette” and this one really sets the tone in a good way. Her voice comes in strong straight away, and you can tell she knows how to control it. The chorus is probably the highlight, it sticks in your head after the first listen and the production work is clean but still emotional. It’s a solid start and pulls you into the project without wasting time.
“Waist” slows things down a bit and leans more into acoustic vibes. The guitar is like the backbone of the song. It’s simple and her voice carries most of the emotion here. The lyrics are honest and there’s something very natural about the way she delivers them. It’s one of those songs that doesn’t need much, it just works.
Then we get “Save Yourself” and this one brings more personality again. The writing is a bit sharper here, more direct maybe and her performance really stands out. The production adds just enough layers without taking away from her voice and the instrumental has some nice touches that keep things interesting. It’s a complete track, if that makes sense.
“worst of it” goes into a heavier emotional space. The atmosphere is quite soft but also kind of heavy at the same time. The instrumental is simple, but that actually helps the song more than anything. It lets her voice and the lyrics do the work and you can really feel the emotion in her delivery. It’s quiet but it hits.
“myself without you” already sounds heavy just from the title, and it delivers on that. This track really shows her vocal range and how much control she has. There’s a lot of feeling in the way she sings and the writing feels very personal. It’s probably one of the more intense moments on the EP, but still keeps that soft tone overall.
The EP closes with “ILYAIMI (part 2)” and this was honestly a really nice way to end things. It’s an instrumental piece. It’s very simple but also kind of haunting and calm at the same time. It feels like a closing chapter, like everything settles down here. Just a quiet ending that fits the whole mood of the project.
After listening to the full EP, it’s clear Maxine Louise knows what she’s doing. She has a strong voice, and more importantly, she knows how to use it in a way that feels real. The melodies are soft but still powerful, which is not always easy to get right. The production of the EP is clean and supports her style perfectly.
We like how she mixes between emotional acoustic moments and a more polished pop sound. It gives the EP some variety but still keeps it connected. We think this is a really solid release. It’s well-made and easy to connect with. It might not be super loud or flashy, but it doesn’t need to be. There’s something real here and that’s what makes it stand out. We’re definitely curious to see what she does next, because there’s clearly a lot of potential and passion in her sound.
