EP: Izzy Skinner – Chapter Six

Izzy Skinner just dropped her new EP “Chapter Six”, and it’s one of those projects that feels calm from the start but still keeps your attention the whole way through. It’s not loud or over the top, it just sits in its own space and lets the music do the work.

The EP opens with “Where Do We Go Now?” and it’s probably one of the best ways to start it. The violin gives the track this soft emotional layer, not too heavy, just enough to pull you in. Her vocals are smooth and natural and nothing is forced. It’s the kind of song that doesn’t try to impress you straight away, but it grows on you after a minute or two.

“laughing all the way to the bank” keeps things slow and steady. There’s a relaxed rhythm here and it’s almost dreamy and the instrumentation sounds really well put together. The violin shows up again which is starting to feel like her signature sound, and it works every time. Her voice is calm and it carries the track in a simple but strong way.

Then you get “A Smooth Sea Never Made A Good Sailor”, which stands out just from the title alone. The track itself feels gentle and kind of reflective. The sound design is clean, nothing too busy or messy, and that helps her voice stay front and center. It’s catchy in a quiet way, if that makes sense, like it sticks without needing a big moment.

“Lost In The Fog” shifts the mood a bit. It’s a bit darker, more emotional, maybe even a little haunting. The melodies hit differently here and it pulls you deeper into the EP. This one really stands out, especially if you like songs that carry a bit more feeling behind them.

“Fish Can’t Walk” closes things with more energy. It’s a bit more alive compared to the earlier tracks with stronger instrumentation and a nice flow. It’s a good way to end the EP without breaking the overall mood too much.

What really stands out across the record is how creative and special it sounds. The violin, the soft vocals, the simple but effective production, it all connects. We really like her style and it’s easy to come back to. We’ll definitely be keeping her in mind for future listens.
