EP: Myslie – Under Rental Lights

Under Rental Lights” is a small project, four tracks, but it has a clear atmosphere from the start. Myslie opens the EP with “Tupperware”, and it immediately sets the tone. Soft synths, warm melodies and a vocal that sits comfortably inside the mix. Nothing flashy here. Just a smooth groove and a catchy hook that quietly sticks around after the song ends.

The second track, “2 AM Confessionals” slows things down even more. The beat is gentle and the tones are slightly hazy, almost like a late-night voice message that wasn’t meant for a big audience. The feat of Keira Jaylynne works well here. Her voice blends into the atmosphere and give the track a calm and reflective mood.

Then comes “Double Stepper”, which might be the most interesting moment on the EP. The production has a playful side to it, a little experimental without becoming messy. The duet between Myslie and Keira feels natural. Their voices bounce off each other in a great way. Like two people figuring the song out together while recording it. There are small details tucked in the background. Little synth textures, subtle rhythm choices. Nothing huge, but enough to keep things interesting.

The energy jumps a bit with “Careless Whisper”. This one moves faster and the performance stands out more. Myslie’s vocal tone is strong here, slightly rough around the edges in a good way, and the production is great. It’s still in the same sonic world as the rest of the EP, but it adds a bit more drive before the project wraps up.

Myslie focused on mood more than big moments. His songs leave space for small details to show up. You can hear that attention to detail in the mix and the sound choices. Some of it even carries that early-2000s video game soundtrack vibe, which gives the project its own character.

It’s not trying to be huge or dramatic. It just sits in that late-night space and lets the songs unfold at their own pace. And honestly, we like that sound. Under Rental Lights is carefully made and the chemistry with Keira Jaylynne adds another layer to the sound. It’s a short EP, but the atmosphere sticks around longer than expected.
