Every Other Weekend – Come Back (When You Feel Like)

Chris Bull returns with his project Every Other Weekend, and his new single “Come Back (When You Feel Like)” feels like opening the door to someone who has been carrying a lot for years and is finally ready to speak again. The song comes from a place shaped by loss and quiet moments, and trying to find a way back to something that once brought peace. You can hear that in every detail.

The songwriting is honest and nothing is overdone. It’s just real. The guitars ring with a warm and jangly charm, the drums feel alive and the whole track has this rich atmosphere that pulls you in from your first listen. His voice is the heart of it all. It’s full of emotion in a way that feels unique. The melodies are captivating and the mix sound clean and thoughtful, like every small sound was placed with care.

There’s also something beautiful about how the song carries both heaviness and hope at the same time. You can tell it was born from a tough chapter, yet the music itself is like a gentle step forward.

We really enjoyed this release. We love how original and honest it feels and the energy behind it makes the whole experience even more memorable. It’s one of those songs that quietly stays with you, and we’re glad Chris is sharing this side of his story with the world.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

I am the former singer in Manchester based band City Reign, currently working on a new project under the name Every Other Weekend.

I took a break from songwriting and making music following the release of the band’s second album in 2016, as it followed shortly after my father passed away in late 2015. He was such a huge influence on me both musically and as a person that for a time I found it too difficult to even think about making music again.

Fast forward to early 2018 and I found myself recording voice notes of melodies I was humming to myself. I decided maybe it’s time to pull them together into a batch of songs and recording them at home, as much as a method of therapy as anything else. Lyrically I started exploring themes of renewal, self forgiveness and gratitude.

I soon got my dad’s recording equipment out of the loft and de-camped to the shed at the end of my mum’s garden to start playing around with some microphones. I was lucky to have the help of many friends. Adam Millest recorded an entire album of drums in one weekend with no rehearsal. My longtime collaborator Mike Grice lent his unique lead guitar on a number of songs, and also played some bass and synth. I was lucky that the wonderful Lexyton contributed backing vocals and her vintage violin. I even got my sister to sing harmonies on one of the songs.

The songs were mixed by another old friend, Mick Morrison, and will be mastered by Adam Stokel, who produced City Reign’s Dasein.
