“Angel” by Jemily Rime: Meaning, Lyrics, and Review

This song, “Angel” is like a slow breath you didn’t know you needed. Jemily Rime brings a soft and warm delivery that wraps around you right from the first line. Nothing in this song feels rushed, it moves with a gentle pace that lets every word and every note settle in its own space.

Her vocals are pure and almost glowing against the light acoustic guitar and smooth production. The instrumental feels like it’s floating in the background, giving her room to express all the mixed emotions in the lyrics. And those lyrics are truly the heart of the song. She writes with a kind of honesty that hits quietly but deeply, the way she sings about longing, timing, and trying to keep someone at a distance even while wanting them close. The chorus line “give up now, stop calling me angel” carries a softness, but also a real weight.

There’s something very beautiful about how the melody stays simple while the feelings underneath are anything but. It shows how much control she has over her sound. And even though this song is just one piece of her upcoming EP, it already feels like a hint of something bigger she’s building.

This song is a true gem. The atmosphere, the acoustic touches, the calm tone, the thoughtful lyrics, everything fits together beautifully. If this is just a taste of what’s coming next, we’re excited for the future.

Lyrics:

I’ve heard rumours you’ve called in favours
I’ve heard rumours you’ve been helping neighbours
Just to be near, so I hope that we’re clear
It’s been torture looking over my shoulder
I’ve worn high heels instead of trainers
To take out the trash in case you walked past
Give up now, stop calling me angel
Cause I won’t hold back at all
When we meet in the fall
Give up now, stop calling me angel
Cause I need time to heal
Figure out what’s real
When you call me baby I stop breathing
Start confessing, slowly aching
I need to be giving it up
Give up now, give up
Give up now

I can’t have you smiling like that
Put that glimmer in your pocket for later
I can’t have you doe eyed like you do
No pet names, no holding of hands
No whisking away, no talking about your band
I’m telling you here, you need to be clear
Give up now, stop calling me angel
Cause I won’t hold back at all
When we meet in the fall
Give up now, stop calling me angel
Cause I need time to heal
Figure out what’s real
When you call me baby I stop breathing
Start confessing, slowly aching
I need to be giving it up
Give up now, give up
Give up now

If I dream that’s enough
If you lie, thanks a lot
Cause I buried the memory of my name upon your lips
If I dream that’s enough
If you lie, thanks a lot
Cause I buried the memory of your thought

Give up now, stop calling me angel
Cause I won’t hold back at all
When we meet in the fall
Give up now, stop calling me angel
Cause I need time to heal
Figure out what’s real
When you call me baby I stop breathing
Start confessing, slowly aching
I need to be giving it up
Give up now, give up
Give up now
