EP: Amira Berbo – Faeries on Film

Amira Berbo’s new EP “Faeries on Film” feels like stepping into a dream that is filled with charm, emotion and a little mystery. The Berlin-based artist has a special way of mixing imagination with real feelings and this project shows that perfectly.

The opening track, “Take it away” pulls you in right away with warm and layered instrumentals and gentle vocals that feel comforting and honest. It’s beautifully produced and you can really feel the emotion in her voice. Then comes “Manic Pixie Dream Girl” a stunning and catchy track that shines with beautiful harmonies and heartfelt lyrics. It’s both soft and powerful, and it easily becomes one of those songs that stick in your head after the first listen.

The title track, “Faeries on Film” has this soft and almost magical atmosphere. It’s calm, soothing and rich with texture, you can tell how much thought went into every sound. The EP closes with “I am bird” which feels like a perfect ending. The production here is creative and layered, the rhythms flow beautifully and her vocal delivery is just perfect.

What we really loved about this EP is its variety. Every song feels different but still connected. The ideas behind it are smart and creative and the production is full of originality. You can tell Amira Berbo isn’t afraid to experiment, and that’s what makes this record so special. It’s one of those rare EPs that keeps you interested from start to finish!

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Amira Berbo is a singer, musician and songwriter from Berlin. In her songs she tries to observe societal issues like feminism and our relationship to our planet as well as personal topics, stories, relationships and fears through the lense of the supernatural. What does a fairy have to say about identity? What does a bird have to say about longing? What does a dragon have to say about masculinity? These and more are questions Amira sings about in dreamy pop songs filled with field recordings, balkan influences, future garage inspired beats and other magical ingrendients. She produces most of her songs with producer and synthesizer wizard Marcel Schygiol. Apart from that she has composed music for theater, plays piano and sings for the balkan soul project “Vernesa B and the Balkan Boys” and is 1/2 of the electronic duo “Mikrofauna”
