Snailgun’s new EP “Reset Power Eject” is a loud, raw and unapologetically fun ride from start to finish. The Melbourne-based trio delivers four tracks that capture the heart of post-punk and noise rock while keeping things catchy and full of energy.
The EP kicks off with “Used” a track that bursts with sharp guitar riffs, pounding drums and a vocal style that feels urgent and unfiltered. You can really hear the chemistry between the band members with each instrument pushing the energy higher. “Back in Time” follows with an upbeat and infectious rhythm, combining strong instrumentation with powerful vocals that feel like they were made to be shouted along to at a live gig.
“Old World” brings in a heavier and moodier edge, yet still keeps its hooky charm intact. The riffs are gritty, the drums are tight and the lyrics give it a bold punch. Closing the EP, “I Dreamt I Played Bass” stands out with its creative bass lines, creative guitar work and an unusual yet addictive groove.
The production isn’t overly polished and that works perfectly here, it gives the songs a raw and live feel that matches the band’s style. You can sense that Snailgun plays with honesty and passion, which makes the whole record exciting to experience.
This new EP shows just how much potential this trio has. It’s loud, it’s gritty and it’s memorable. We think this EP is a strong step forward for Snailgun and we’re excited to see where they go next.
