Q: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how your childhood impacted your musical direction?
A: I was born and raised in Mexico, and music has been part of my life since I was a child. I started singing in church, where I learned the power of connecting with people through my voice. Growing up in such a vibrant environment full of rhythms and culture gave me the foundation to blend Latin passion with swing, jazz, and electronic sounds later in my career.
Q: How are you planning on growing your fan base and sharing your music with the world? What message do you have for anyone who is about to discover “Jarliama”?
A: I release new music every month and connect directly with my fans through social media. I believe in consistency and authenticity. To anyone who is just discovering me: expect energy, swing, and a touch of surprise in every song. My music is made to make you move and smile.
Q: Who is the most inspiring artist for you right now? And where do you find inspiration for making music?
A: I admire artists who know how to blend genres and bring something fresh to the scene. For me, inspiration comes from everyday life—walking through the city, traveling, and simply observing people. I like to imagine stories and turn them into songs that carry both playfulness and emotion.
Q: Can you tell us about the story or message behind the song, “Don’t You Come Back.”?
A: “Don’t You Come Back” is about empowerment and moving on. It’s a playful yet strong statement that sometimes closing a chapter is the best way to keep dancing forward. The electro swing energy behind it makes the message even more uplifting—it’s about freedom and self-confidence.
Q: How would you describe your sound in one word for potential listeners?
A: Unstoppable.
Q: Did you face any challenges while writing or recording “Don’t You Come Back”?
A: Yes—one challenge was balancing the vintage swing feel with modern electronic energy. I wanted to make sure the track honored the roots of swing while still sounding fresh and powerful for today’s listeners. It took time to find the perfect arrangement, but it was worth it.
Q: What is the message of your music? And what are your goals as an artist?
A: My music is about joy, resilience, and connection. I want people to forget their problems and celebrate life, even in difficult times. My goal is to make electro swing a stronger movement worldwide and to represent both my Mexican and Italian identity in an international scene.
Q: Who is your dream artist to collaborate with? (dead or alive)
A: I’d love to collaborate with Ella Fitzgerald for her timeless swing magic, or someone like Parov Stelar, who has been a pioneer in electro swing. That mix would be a dream come true.
Q: What is your advice for people interested in pursuing music as a career or for those trying to enter the industry?
A: Be consistent, be patient, and most importantly, stay true to your sound. Don’t chase trends—create them. The industry can be tough, but passion and persistence will take you further than you imagine.
Q: If you could go back in time and give a younger you some words of wisdom, what would they be?
A: Don’t be afraid of your uniqueness. Every step, even the struggles, will shape your art. Trust yourself, keep singing, and never stop dreaming.
