Jacob Shakespeare – sunflower

Jacob Shakespeare is back and his new single “sunflower” is everything we hoped for and more. After his beautiful debut EP “the things you do”, which we already loved, Jacob returns with a fresh sound that still holds his signature style, emotional, honest and full of heart.

“sunflower” is a vibrant indie-pop track with an upbeat feel that instantly pulls you in. The production is clean and smooth with creative synths and punchy drums that make the track lively but not overwhelming. Jacob’s voice stands out once again, it’s rich and full of emotion. His vocals glide over the instrumental with ease, showing us just how naturally gifted he is.

The song talks about the emotional whirlwind of having a crush, something many of us can relate to. The lyrics are well written and meaningful, painting a clear picture of confusion and longing. The hook is super catchy and will be stuck in your head after just one listen.

We also respect that this is Jacob’s first release where he’s the sole producer and songwriter. It shows his dedication and growth, and we love seeing him take full control of his sound and vision. We honestly think “sunflower” is one of his best songs yet. It’s full of life and personality and we can’t stop listening. We’re truly excited to see what comes next from this young and talented artist.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Inspired by teen life and British 18 year old Jacob Shakespeare’s failed relationships, his debut EP ‘the things you do’ is an amazing listen.

Born in the Midlands, Jacob was surrounded by music throughout his childhood. He was first inspired to create his own music at the age of 13 when he formed a band with his school friends. This led to him experimenting with lyrics that he wrote at the piano. Since writing his first song at 15, he has written over 150 songs and poems, exploring teenage struggles, romance, friendships, one’s own identity and everything in between. Inspired by songwriting and music geniuses like Taylor Swift, Adele and Lana Del Rey, Jacob aims to capture his emotions in his songs and create music that people of all kinds may understand and relate to.
