EP: wAHb – Early Virgins

If you’re in the mood for something honest and emotional, wAHb’s new EP “Early Virgins” is the perfect listen. With four tracks that each carry deep feelings and beautiful songwriting, this project feels both personal and comforting. The artist behind wAHb, Caleb Bristol delivers each song with a rich and heartfelt voice that grabs your attention and never lets go.

Everything feels stripped down in a good way, giving space for the songs to breathe. The EP opens with “King of Hearts” and it’s an instant standout. The gentle acoustic guitar, haunting vocal delivery and touching lyrics all come together to create a song that feels like home. It’s simple, but powerful and sets the tone for what’s to come.

“Shorties for the Camel” keeps that same calm style but adds a bit more depth with a slow build-up. It begins with a full minute of soft guitar before the singing starts and when it does, the lyrics and voice work really well together.

The last two tracks, “Dawn” and “Gone”, keep the emotional flow going. Both are well-crafted and memorable with melodies that stay in your head and lyrics that speak from the heart. These songs might not have fit into wAHb’s earlier releases, but they truly shine here.

The instrumentation throughout the EP is simple but effective, letting the vocals and songwriting take the spotlight. There’s a raw beauty in every track, and the added contributions from Travis Beam, Coleman Walker and Chris Lamb help complete the picture without ever overdoing it.

It’s a beautiful project and we love it. It’s honest and shows just how powerful music can be when it comes from a real place. We think wAHb has something special here and we’re looking forward to hearing more in the future.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

wAHb is a Post Americana project based in Laramie, Wyoming. Started by Caleb Bristol back in 2019, he wanted to explore a noise centered projects using samples heard in everyday life. As the years went by, he changed his focus from noise, to combining harsh elements from noise music to folk and country.

Born and raised in Laramie, Caleb started making a name for himself performing with Jason Burge of The Lost Dauphin of Mississippi, Julian Saporiti of No No Boy, and Nathaniel Riley.

After encouragement from friends, he started to perform solo material and write more. His music has been described as dark, moody, and according to Gary Wilson, wAHb “…has a sort of atmospheric, misty sound…”

Caleb has opened for Jason Burge (Dauphin of Mississippi), Shawn Hess, Natalie Prauser, Marty Bush, In The Whale, Whiskey Dick, White Rose Motor Oil, Nathaniel Riley, Diners, and sat in with Dendrons on cello.
