Q: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how your childhood impacted your musical direction?
A: To describe Dexter Wigglesworth is not an easy task! It is impossible to name a growing entity. Regarding his childhood, we cannot quite remember where Dexter comes from; the earliest memory recalled is lying in bed at night with eyes closed, hearing all the activity, chaos, and commotion beyond the closed door, forming songs and rhythms unlike anything heard before. He imagined fractal lights and colors, and mysterious dancing shadows. All of which have evolved into the sound now known as Wigglesworld.
Q: How are you planning on growing your fan base and sharing your music with the world? What message do you have for anyone who is about to discover “Dexter Wigglesworth”?
A: The plan is actually the next step in the Dexter Wigglesworth process. To expand the Wigglesworld boundaries!
By finding and exploring all places open and inviting to risk, letting the sounds and sights available be explored, Wigglesworld does not deny any open and curious mind the opportunity to explore and discover everything about themselves and the wonders of life found in the soundscapes and feelings within Wigglesworld..
Q: Who is the most inspiring artist for you right now? And where do you find inspiration for making music?
A: The most inspiring artist for me right now would probably be that 3 am college radio DJ on your local FM dial. A dying breed with a passion for a dying art.. exposing minds to sounds, exploring ideas and styles that other venues fear to tread.. first album really inspiring what Dexter Wigglesworth has become and leading to where all Wigglesworld is becoming was a 2000 Mush records compilation named Ropeladder 12. I highly suggest giving that a shot if you can find it
Q: Can you tell us about the story or message behind the song, “Let’s Rock.”?
A: This song is inspired by the artist known as David Lynch all of his work was and still is amazing! Sometimes, more than others hard to swallow and stomach but if you can get past that and find what the whole experience means to you PRICELESS.. we should all learn to be uncomfortable. The title is repeated saying usually spoken backwards from the man from another place who dwells within the red room gliding in a graceful backwards dance.. I love TWIN PEAKS!
Q: Did you face any challenges while writing or recording “Let’s Rock”?
A: The writing process is like hyperfocused the song I channel write themselves. If not only use me to perform music that has already been written. The hardest part is when to know that I should stop and except that the song if complete as is and let the birds leave the nest
Q: What is the message of your music? And what are your goals as an artist?
A: The goal is that opportunity comes once in your life don’t waste it. Opportunities come every second so no regrets for choosing to let one slide. If you have an idea a vision or inspiration we only have so many opportunities to take advantage of taking upon the adventures of discovering where these quests may lead. Treasure or no treasure always an experience that is priceless an impact that will change the world.
If only I could inspire 1 artist or individual who did not see that they are an artist themselves to create and inspire..
Goals complete here! A win for Wigglesworld
Q: Who is your dream artist to collaborate with? (dead or alive)
A: For someone whom my original formula and feelings would be most derived is definitely DJ Muggs early work. For breaking boundaries probably Aphex Twin. Straight style or presentation James Brown. My video or photography presentation of my art i would love to work with Larry Clark or Harmony Korine. Currently I’ve collaborated with Miles Frode in the underground hip hop world known as WINDLUNG. I am also very excited and you all reading should be also! Dexter Wigglesworth is releasing a track with unknown artist Casual T the One and only underground Los Angeles LEGEND 2Mex and Roach the DJ on the tables if you aren’t in the know about those guys please do yourselves a favor and search them up something proper
Q: What is your advice for people interested in pursuing music as a career or for those trying to enter the industry?
A: If you feel it inside yourselves you have something to share and that it could benefit those who are exposed as well as like as it does for me give me a sense of accomplishments by doing things positive.. on the other hand if you got alot of capital and a good game hustle to follow the blueprint to a T. You are a good crafts person and can invest alot you might have a chance being successful.. if you are like me make the best you can with what you have. Give it all your heart cause you do what you love. Share with those who will appreciate what you do, don’t expect it to pay your bills or even come close to bringing your neck above water
Connection on a human level can feel a lot more important and real than a fat paycheck
Q: If you could go back in time and give a younger you some words of wisdom, what would they be?
A: Keep on hustling that candy at school. Don’t dip into your stash until you at least flip 3 or 4 boxes and by then you will have like half a full box to smash and 2.5 or 3.5 boxes to move individual packs all profit
Then invest in that fancy sound and production equipment in like your late 2 teens early 20’s. Last thing to Mike and Same, you know! APPLE TIME!
