Album: Darwin’s Rejects – Unnatural Selection

Darwin’s Rejects are back with a bang and their debut album “Unnatural Selection” is everything fans of folk-punk didn’t know they needed. This 12-track project is loaded with heart, attitude and energy, giving listeners a full journey that blends fast-paced punk vibes with deep and emotional folk moments.

Right from the start, the album sets a tone that’s hard to ignore. The band’s sound is raw but polished, thanks to creative and professional production. You can feel the passion in every note from the mandolin to the pounding drums. The vocals are clear, catchy and full of character and they manage to walk that fine line between emotional depth and sing-along fun.

One of the standout tracks for us is “Traitors”. This song is packed with energy and features a killer solo that adds an exciting edge. The melodies are strong and the lyrics hit hard. It’s a great example of what makes this band so special, they mix grit with beauty in a way that feels honest and fresh.

“Gone” and “Teenage Years” offer two very different sides of the band. “Gone” hits you with rhythm and drive, perfect for blasting in the car. Meanwhile, “Teenage Years” slows things down with an acoustic vibe and thoughtful emotional songwriting. It’s a calm moment on the record, but one that leaves a big impact.

The final track, “Come Take a Drink” is a perfect closer. It wraps up the album with charm and a bit of fun, sticking in your head long after it ends. The melodies are smooth, the lyrics are memorable and the production ties it all together just right.

One thing that really stood out to me was how diverse this album feels while still holding together as one story. The songs cover everything from politics and friendship to history and mythology and even with all these different topics, the album flows naturally. You can tell all six members of Darwin’s Rejects poured their souls into this, each song feels personal and lived-in.

This album rocks. It’s wild, emotional, thoughtful and fun all at once. Whether you’re a longtime fan or brand new to Darwin’s Rejects, you’ll find something here to love. We’ve already replayed a few songs more than we can count and we’re looking forward to hearing what they do next. This release is a win for folk-punk and for anyone who likes music with a pulse and a purpose.
