Chicago-based band Bellhead is back with a powerful new EP called Threats, and it’s easily one of their best yet. Known for their dark and haunting sound and bass-driven energy, Bellhead has really leveled up here, blending emotion, solid production and creativity into seven strong tracks.
The EP opens with the title track, “Threats” which immediately pulls you in with its polished sound and eerie vibe. It’s a perfect introduction and really sets the mood for the rest of the project. Next up is “Heart Shaped Hole” a darker song with heavy vocals and strong instrumentals that really show off the band’s gothic and post-punk influences.
“Shutters + Stutters” brings a steady rhythm and a unique atmosphere that’s honestly addictive. I found myself replaying it over and over. Then we get to “No Dead Horses” and “Double Jeopardy” which end the original songs on a high note. Both tracks feature creative melodies and a level of polish that deserves more attention. You can hear how much time and passion went into making them.
The EP wraps up with two remixes, “Bad Taste” and “Heart Shaped Hole”. The remixes add a fresh and almost hypnotic energy to the originals with a more dance-punk feel that shows another side of Bellhead’s sound.
Overall, this EP feels like a big step forward for the band. Their storytelling is sharper, their sound is richer and their style is still proudly dark and different. The haunting vocals, layered basslines and thoughtful production all work together perfectly.
We really loved this EP. Bellhead’s style is great and hits differently. Their music feels alive and full of emotion and you can tell they truly care about their craft. Threats is a must-listen if you’re into dark, indie, or post-punk music. We can’t wait to see what they do next.

“Bellhead are an unexpected find who have impressed me almost instantly with a twist on traditional genres that I have not quite heard before and the passion Ivan and Karen have is very clear throughout.- Electrovox
“A blend of stalking menace and luring sweet hooks. You keep on the ride for the familiar feelings, the longer you stay the more you realize this is something you haven’t heard yet.”- Sounds and Shadows
“Akin to the sardonic lyricism of The Magnetic Fields, the song is imbued with the playful ennui of mid-2000s indie, evoking the likes of Peter, Bjorn and John. In this sonic tapestry, Bellhead not only weaves the threads of the past but also shapes the fabric of the present, entwining the listener in a hypnotic embrace.”- Post-Punk.com
