Sandmoon – I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings

Beirut-based indie pop band Sandmoon delivers something truly special with their new single, “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings”. The song carries a deep emotional weight, blending haunting melodies with an atmospheric sound that lingers long after it ends.

Created during a time of war, the track feels both fragile and powerful. Sandra Arslanian’s vocals soar with a mix of sorrow and strength, while the band’s instrumentation builds a dreamy yet intense atmosphere. The mix of synths, guitars, and earthy rhythms creates a sound that is both unique and deeply moving. Inspired by the famous poem by Paul Laurence Dunbar, the song speaks to the universal longing for freedom, making it feel incredibly relevant.

The production has an interesting rawness to it, adding to the song’s emotional depth. This is one of the most striking songs we’ve heard in months. The blend of emotion, storytelling and strong musicality makes “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings” a song that truly deserves attention. Sandmoon has created something special here.
