Alba Fury – This is Why

Alba Fury is back with their second single, “This is Why” and it’s another powerhouse release from this Scottish post-punk band. This track dives into the struggles of emotional vulnerability, capturing the fear of opening up and the consequences of keeping feelings bottled up.

From the first listen, the song makes an impact with its driving energy and raw intensity. The rhythm section holds everything down with a steady, motoric groove, while haunting yet melodic guitar riffs bring a moody and atmospheric edge. The chorus is amazing, making it a song that lingers in your mind long after it ends.

The band’s lead singer Michael Ward delivers an emotive and confrontational performance, with lyrics that feel both personal and universally relatable. The production of this track is polished and the overall sound is unique. Staying true to their DIY roots, the band handled a significant part of the recording themselves and the result is a polished, well-balanced mix that enhances the song’s energy without losing its rawness.

It’s a strong message about acknowledging emotional struggles and the fear that often holds us back. This song is an easy favorite. It has everything, great production, strong instrumentation and a chorus that refuses to leave your head. Whether you’re a fan of post-punk or just appreciate well-crafted music, this song is worth adding to your playlist. Alba Fury is proving once again why they are a band to watch.

ABOUT THE BAND:

Alba Fury is a four-piece alt-indie/post-punk band based in LeithEdinburgh. They came together in early 2023 after former West Lothian bandmates Jamie Thomson and Michael Ward (co-founder of La Sierra Casa songwriting camp with The View’s Kyle Falconer) decided to develop some demo ideas together. They cite Fontaines DC, Sprints, Young Fathers, and Joy Division as influences.

The band members are Michael Ward (lead vocals), Sam Greig (guitar), Jamie Thomson (bass & backing vocals), and Fraser Plumb (drums). They look forward to bringing their energetic performance to audiences across Scotland and further afield in the coming months
