Interview With Alex Nikoloudis

Q: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how your childhood impacted your musical direction?

A:  I was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia. My father is from Thessaloniki in Greece, so I grew up listening to a lot of foreign music from Greece, also a lot of the classic hits from The Bee Gees, The Beatles, Elvis, John Denver, Simon and Garfunkel and ABBA. Growing up, I took piano lessons and guitar lessons and also a few years of vocal lessons. This influenced my musical direction later in life as I was exposed from an early age to many different genres of music and appreciate all genres of music although my main genre is primarily pop. I am a music fan at heart and enjoy a good emotional song which pulls at the heartstrings. Playing an instrument from an early age helped me to express myself more easier with melodies, writing a song has always been a way to express how I feel at different stages of life during the good times and the bad times you can always draw on your experiences in life to write a song and sometimes it hits you at times you would never expect it and a new song is born. If music wasn’t a part of my life, I wouldn’t be the same person as I am today.  I have made a lot of good music friends over the years from all over the world.

Q: How are you planning on growing your fan base and sharing your music with the world? What message do you have for anyone who is about to discover “Alex Nikoloudis”?

A:  I am always connecting with new people through social media.  I have met a lot of my music friends from social media in real life and created some great memories with them. For A Good Night, I created a video for my song , where I have included a lot of my music friends dancing to my song and having fun. Anyone who joins the Alex Nikoloudis music journey is always treated as family. I communicate with people from all walks of life, and include everyone no matter what they stand for, who they are, or where they come from. Kindness is key, and I believe you can always learn something from everyone no matter who they are. I would like people to know that hard work pays off. With Determination and consistency you can achieve anything you want to.

Q: Who is the most inspiring artist for you right now? And where do you find inspiration for making music?

A: An artist I have always loved is Keith Urban. I admire his guitar skills, songwriting and smooth vocal tone. Whether he is on acoustic or electric guitar he always finds a way to showcase his skills to the best of his abilities.

Life, Love and peace inspire me to write songs. Being alive is a gift, I hope when people hear my songs it helps them to feel a bit more uplifted or loved. Change their day, state of mind, and maybe turn a bad day into a good day with the vibrations, and lyrics in my music.

Q: Can you tell us about the story or message behind the song, “A Good night.”?

A: A good night is a story of friendship, and good moments experienced in a good night. Being around those who you love and having a good time. Sometimes A Good Night can be remembered for many years to come.

Q: How would you describe your sound in one word for potential listeners?

A: Euphoric

Q: Did you face any challenges while writing or recording “A Good night”?

A: It was a good process. I wrote and recorded “A Good Night” in a few days, then sent it to Marlee, the rapper who lives in the USA. He wrote his verse and sent it to me. The  song came  together quickly at my home studio. Marlee also has a home studio where he works in the USA,  and then the song came together beautifully.

Q: What is the message of your music? And what are your goals as an artist?

A: The message of my music is to inspire those who listen to never lose hope in humanity, or true love. Open their hearts and minds to new possibilities and different outcomes. Reminding them to show love, and kindness to one another, because with love and pure intentions we can change our worlds, and help others to be the best they can be. My goal as an artist is simply to connect with as many people as possible. So my messages of peace, love and hope can be heard around the world.

Q: Who is your dream artist to collaborate with? (dead or alive)

A: My dream artist to collaborate with is Ed Sheeran. I have been following him for a very long time and I believe we could come up with a great song together.

Q: What is your advice for people interested in pursuing music as a career or for those trying to enter the industry?

A: What I would say to them is that sometimes it’s easy to get distracted by the noise around you, and worry too much about what other people are doing, or thinking. Comparing yourself to others doing better or worse than you. Sometimes you can feel disheartened when you don’t see the results you want. If you really want to have music as a career, keep going, writing songs, performing live, making content,  working hard and doing your best. Everyone will have their moment to shine. And everyone expresses themselves in their one ways. Surround yourself with people that want to see you really win and do not ever give up no matter what is said to you or how much rejection you face you must keep working. If You really want to be a musician it’s not going to be easy, but nothing good comes easy. And actions speak louder than words.  If you really want it you have to be prepared to put in the work.

Q: If you could go back in time and give a younger you some words of wisdom, what would they be?

A: You’re doing better than you think, keep up the good work kid. Enjoy every moment.
