JJ Sweetheart – Cinnamom

JJ Sweetheart’s latest single, “Cinnamom” is a dreamy and heartfelt track that showcases his signature Lofi and psychedelic dreampop sound. The production is smooth and professional with layered textures that create a hypnotic atmosphere. His vocals are memorable and the instrumental is excellent and supports the song’s mood perfectly.

As a solo artist, JJ Sweetheart brings a fresh perspective to songwriting, drawing from his past experiences in the Minneapolis music scene. His music taps into the intimacy of Lofi bedroom tracks while still delivering strong, pop-driven vocal hooks. The sun-kissed guitar tones, reminiscent of 60s psych rock, add warmth and nostalgia, while the reverb-soaked distortion gives the track a raw and emotional edge.

One of the most touching aspects of this song is its backstory. Inspired by a leucitic Virginia opossum he cared for while working at a wildlife rehab center, JJ Sweetheart named the song in honor of the animal and the people he worked with. This personal connection adds depth to an already beautiful song.

We love the unique vibe and emotional honesty in Cinnamom. It’s a track that feels both nostalgic and fresh and we can’t wait to see what this artist does next. The song is part of his new EP “Big Things” which we highly recommend listening to as it beautifully captures his artistic vision and unique sound.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

JJ Sweetheart is a Lofi, Psychedelic, feral dreampop musician freshly arisen from the ashes of his former projects in the Minneapolis music scene. Hatched from the creative mind of former France Camp frontman, and previous bassist of Howler (Rough Trade Records), this solo project is a mellowed, explorative, expansion into songwriting. JJ taps into the intimacy of lo fi bedroom tracks similar to early Alex G, while staying true to the pop driven vocal hooks that made his former projects successful. Sun kissed guitar tones reminiscent of 60’s psych rock groups like 13th floor elevators draws the listener in and then slaps you with jabs of reverb soaked distortion. The lyrics are heartfelt and romantic, while touching on subjects of self growth, mental health, and that yearning crush feeling of young love.
