Interview With Chayne

Q: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how your childhood impacted your musical direction?

A: A very loud and musical house, especially when my dad used to force us to listen to loads of (mostly) great tunes whenever he could! And he also played in a very noisy band.

Q: How are you planning on growing your fan base and sharing your music with the world? What message do you have for anyone who is about to discover “Chayne”?

A: I’m planning on taking it slowly, I’m still at school, so I’m in no rush! Chayne is all about bringing back good, organic music. Pop music doesn’t need to be bland!

Q: Who is the most inspiring artist for you right now? And where do you find inspiration for making music?

A:  I love so many different things, but right now I’m into the pop of Charli XCX and ABBA and the primitive rage of Sleaford Mods. Chayne is kinda like a mongrel cross of artists like that!!

Q: Can you tell us about the story or message behind the song, “Quicksilver”?

A:  A person who is “quicksilver” is someone who changes their mood or ideas in an instant. I have known people like that. I AM a person like that! I think it’s a sign of a slightly warped mind, ha ha !

Q: How would you describe your sound in one word for potential listeners

A: Indescribable…

Q: Did you face any challenges while writing or recording “Quicksilver”?

A: No, apart from the heat in the (tiny) studio! The songs tend to be so simple, that it’s not so difficult. Mind you, I’m not the producer, so he might say something different!

Q: What is the message of your music? And what are your goals as an artist?

A: I just wanted to record songs that I might like myself. That was the goal. The fact that anybody else likes it and is paying attention to me is amazing! There is no message, I’m just a kid, what can I tell people…? But I’m aware that the world going the wrong way, not that I can do much about that.

Q: Who is your dream artist to collaborate with? (dead or alive)

A: Ummmm Elvis!? With Lemmy on bass. And Aphex Twin overseeing the whole thing….that’s pretty retro, right? Oh well…!

Q: What is your advice for people interested in pursuing music as a career or for those trying to enter the industry?

A: As someoné who’s in that postion, trying to get into the industry, I’m not sure I am qualified to offer advice, but I would say you need luck… and a good producer:)

Q: If you could go back in time and give a younger you some words of wisdom, what would they be?

A:  You never know what could happen, so don’t plan too far ahead! And also don’t let people (like your brothers!) tell you to stop singing!
