Q: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how your childhood impacted your musical direction?
A: The band was formed by Inaxio and Jake in high school, Mollie and Jake knew of each other as early as nursery. A few years ago we started from scratch and came together as a trio to pursue our dream of creating music that we love.
We all grew up with a love of music, and relied on it as an outlet to navigate our childhoods and teenage years. That definitely encouraged us to make music that helps everyone get through their hardest times.
Q: How are you planning on growing your fan base and sharing your music with the world? What message do you have for anyone who is about to discover “Conflict Hope”?
A: We have a lot of new music planned for next year which we hope will solidify us as a band worth noticing. Social media plays a really important role too. Failing that, we’re relying on Jake to get pulled up on stage with another big band!
Q: Who is the most inspiring artist for you right now? And where do you find inspiration for making music?
A: We will always be grateful to Green Day for the opportunities that we’ve had off the back of Jake’s experience. Regardless, they have always been a massive inspiration to us and we can relate to their story as three friends who love making music together.
Q: Can you tell us about the story or message behind the single, “Won’t Disappear.”?
A: The song was inspired by the sudden loss of Mollie’s Grandad Tom, who was a massive supporter of the band. Mollie has experienced a lot of grief throughout her life and we all felt it was important to highlight how there is no right or wrong way to navigate it.
Q: How would you describe your sound in one word for potential listeners?
A: Explosive
Q: Did you face any challenges while writing or recording “Won’t Disappear”?
A: In its earliest stages, “Won’t Disappear” was actually about a completely different topic. When Mollie lost her grandad, we rewrote it for her as a way to help her navigate her grief. We weren’t even sure if we wanted to release it but we hoped that the message; that grief is a complicated process, would help other people too.
Q: What is the message of your music? And what are your goals as an artist?
A: Our tagline has always been “rock music that heals” which, over time has really aligned with the songs we write and the messages within them.‘Echo’ was actually written for a fan who was a victim of online bullying. We are firm believers that music can heal many wounds, based off of our own experiences. So much so, that Inaxio is studying to become a music therapist. Whilst Mollie created a psychological study that looked into the benefits of singing on mental health.
Q: Who is your dream artist to collaborate with? (dead or alive)
A: There’s so many, but Biffy Clyro would be incredible. We have admired their songwriting for years, the way they combine interesting rhythms with massive choruses is so influential on our music. They are a band that mean a lot to us and have given us many special memories. Also, hearing Simon scream on a Conflict Hope song would make us very happy.
Q: What is your advice for people interested in pursuing music as a career or for those trying to enter the industry?
A: It’s definitely not an easy career path to follow, and there’s so much competition. What is most crucial is that you create music for yourself and put everything you have into the songs you create because they are the most important thing. As for advice, finding the right people is vital. If one person is holding you back, cut your loses and find someone else, as hard as that can be. So much wasted energy can be spent on on trying to fix something that will never be mended.
Q: If you could go back in time and give a younger you some words of wisdom, what would they be?
A: “Don’t put too much pressure on yourself and learn to enjoy the process of what you are trying to achieve.”– Inaxio
“Don’t waste your time pursuing anything that you don’t love. There are no real expectations of you, just that you don’t turn out to be a c*nt.” -Mollie
“When Green Day release: ‘Dilemma’, make sure and learn it on guitar. Seriously though, don’t let other people’s opinions dictate how you should live your life.”– Jake
