PRE-ORDER HERE

If you’re looking for something original, classic, and captivating The Gleeman’s upcoming album, Something To Say is a beautiful collection of 14 tracks that take listeners on a heartfelt journey through classic folk music. With a rich voice and honest lyrics, The Gleeman manages to create a deeply emotional experience. Each song tells a unique story, blending simplicity with meaningful reflections that resonate with the heart.

The melodies throughout the album are captivating and his voice truly stands out as something special, carrying a soulful depth that feels comforting. The instrumentals are gentle and subtle, allowing the vocals and lyrics to shine. The production is well-executed, showing that great care was taken to highlight the essence of each track.

One song that really stands out is You Are Not Alone. The backstory adds another layer of emotion, as The Gleeman wrote it after losing his mother to a long battle with dementia. It’s a touching song about grief, loss, and the struggle to find peace in hard times. The universal message in the lyrics makes it feel like a comforting embrace for anyone going through their own personal challenges.

“The Hurting” might initially sound like a love song, but it’s far from the typical romantic tale. Instead, it explores a heart-wrenching fictional scenario where a wife with a terminal illness asks her husband to help her pass on in dignity. The track brings up the moral and legal dilemmas surrounding assisted dying, especially in the UK, where it’s illegal. The Gleeman’s personal experience, having lost both parents to dementia, adds emotional weight to the song. It’s a powerful reflection on love, dignity, and the right to choose how to say goodbye.

“Marie” stands out as the oldest song on the album, written 30 years ago. Its timeless message of chasing dreams, self-belief, and staying true to oneself feels just as relevant today. The mystery of whether or not there was a real-life Marie only adds to the song’s allure. It’s one of those tracks that inspire listeners to reflect on their own aspirations and trust in their ability to achieve them. It’s a testament to The Gleeman’s enduring songwriting talent.

As a whole, Something To Say is a well-crafted album that invites listeners to connect with the artist on a deep level. It’s a strong showcase of the artist’s talents as both a singer and a songwriter. The heartfelt sincerity of the lyrics paired with beautiful, folk-inspired melodies makes this a record worth sitting with.

We found You Are Not Alone to be particularly moving. The raw emotion behind it, combined with The Gleeman’s ability to convey such personal pain in a universal way, really struck a chord with us. We think this album is going to leave a lasting impact on anyone who listens, especially those who appreciate music that speaks from the heart. The Gleeman is one of our favorite artists and we can’t wait to hear what he releases next. The album is set for release on November 1st, and we highly recommend giving it a listen here.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Those of us with ears wide open to winning pop melodies, meaningful lyrics and time-honoured song craft sat bolt upright recently to welcome the arrival of The Gleeman.

‘The Gunslinger’ Acoustic EP marked a refreshing return to the sort of skilled compositions that you might have thought were lost somewhere around the late 1970s. These evocative pieces have had listeners reaching for the who’s who of A-list singers and writers that they evoke.

It’s impossible not to notice the consistent calibre of the song writing, which is quite extraordinary. The Gleeman is a storyteller, sometimes fictional, sometimes devastatingly personal, with melodies that will stick with you and lyrics that will entice you and draw you in deeper.

A key figure in the journey of The Gleeman was David Grant, a man who knew the pop game inside out as an A-list hitmaker himself. When it was time to record his debut album Something To Say, David put The Gleeman in touch with producer Will Hicks (Ed Sheeran) and whilst The Gleeman is a multi-instrumentalist, the recordings have been augmented by a fine cast of supporting musicians including Ash Soan on drums (Adele), Fred Abbott on guitar/keys (Noah And The Whale) and indeed, David Grant on backing vocals.

With a mantra to live life by based on Norman Vincent Peale’s quote: “Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars” and with songs that indeed have Something To Say, expect to be inspired by a lot more of The Gleeman.
