ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Although originally hailing from the musically rich city of Macon, Georgia Joe Hooten has called Asheville, North Carolina home since the late 90’s, more permanently in 2007.
Since his 2014 debut, The Original Plan, six studio albums have been released under the Tin Roof Echo moniker-each demonstrating the DIY recording style that ultimately allows his uniquely introspective songwriting & production to be highlighted along with his varied influences. In 2021 he released Mornings Are For Singing an exceptionally unique live album captured in various stairwells at his day job. Hooten has recently released his seventh studio album, Flowers Falling.
Secretly recorded between September 2023 and April 2024, Flowers Falling marks a departure from Tin Roof Echo’s previous DIY ethos, as Hooten opted to collaborate with producer Kevin Boggs at Loc-Level Sound in Asheville, NC. Featuring appearances by members of Steep Canyon Rangers, Drive-By Truckers, Amy Ray Band, and more, the album was mastered by the renowned John Keane (R.E.M., Indigo Girls, Widespread Panic) at his studio in Athens, GA, Flowers Falling is poised to captivate audiences with its infectious blend of impassioned country-tinged melodies and heartfelt songwriting.
Hooten has performed at notable festivals such as Durham NC’s Enofest, Northeast Georgia’s fabled Finsterfest, Asheville’s inaugural AVLFest, and the first AVL Punkfest as well. He’s performed on numerous radio shows including Knoxville’s WDVX “Blue Plate Special” & respected stages across the region such as the Grey Eagle, Evening Muse, & the Orange Peel, with a diverse range of talents like alt-country hero Scott Miller (The V-Roys), NC folk icon David Childers, punk pioneers Agent Orange, and the post-punk Athens legends PYLON REENACTMENT SOCIETY. His shows- whether in a festival setting, radio show, or an intimate listening room- are not to be missed.
He also makes a lot of noise with the punk band PINKEYE.
